Talk abut Movies & TV here. Just tell us what you have been watching. Have hyper-academic discussions on visual semiotics. Whatever, it's all good.

I love the name calling BTW.
I knew you'd come up with comedy gold, given enough time.

I don't really care about the light saber cross guards, in fact I think they make sense really, or the reuse of the empire, or the reuse of the various ships. The main thing that leaves me "eh" is the reuse of the planets. An entire galaxy of possible worlds and it's always back to fscking Tattooine. There were so many great and exotic environments. Tattooine, Hoth, Endor, Dagobah, etc. Even Coruscant was great despite the lame cgi -- a city that covered an entire planet! Now Tattooine is about as surprising as Barnes selling last year's GOTY at fire sale prices.
It's just milksop for the fans. "Remember this thing? Here it is again!" -- the same sappy nostalgia that drove the fawning over the droids in TPM, and also drives the nonstop Monty Python and other pop culture references in geekdom generally.

no Vader. Not star wars.
(ps: trailer looked pretty cool, seems like the new ones might wash away the stain of, those other ones that shall not be named. I would have loved to see these new guys redo the prequels. Odd trailer though, pretty clearly mostly just trying to say "we doin dis shit our way" and it looks mainly closer in style to the originals.
But really, Vader is irreplaceable. utterly irreplaceable. We'll see how they get on with alternative bad guys and story lines.
