I dunno. I agree with Shellhead and find a lot of the action in the Marvel movies to be a cgi bore-fest. Particularly those chitari and ultron clone scenes at the end of each Avenger movie. Perhaps this is why I liked Daredevil so much. The action was visceral and had weight. The only Marvel movie fight scene that I found to be 'great' was Spidey v Doc Ock on the train in Spider-man 2.

A few years back, I read a book called Soon I Will Be Invincible. It was a book written from the standpoint of a superhero who had just joined a superhero team. There was an interesting paragraph in there about the experience of being in a superhuman battle. It was described as like being in an ongoing car accident, collision after collision after collision. The forces deployed were shocking beyond what the mind could fully register during the fight, sometimes leading to actual shock after the fight was over. Comic book movies often fail to convey that level of intensity in the action scenes. The CGI goes through the right motions, but there just isn't a visceral sense of superhuman power at work.

Shellhead, I get a sense you haven't seen Spider-Man 2. That's fine, I'm sure the train sequence is online somewhere, but that post fight shock/exhaustion you speak of is there. It's part of what makes the battle stick out in my mind.

That post fight event is probably one of my favorite scenes in any of these Marvel films.

i HATE that train scene. I don't even remember the aftermath. Now I definitely need to see it again. Crap, it was just playing on the weekend too

Somewhat related article about the ending of Captain Philips and how Hanks portrays shock. A good read.

Also, I'm really enjoying the epic comic book battle between Mr. WHITE and BLACK Barney.

Yeah, I mentionned that amazing portrayal of shock in my Five Second Review

Here's the scene, it's incredible. If you haven't seen Cpt Philips, I wouldn't recommend you watch this on its own. It's much more powerful after you've seen the build-up to it.

From anybody else I would shout in shocked dismay by that comment. From Black Barney, I merely cast my eyes heavenward and heave a heavy sigh.

The train sequence from Spider-man 2 is one of the top three super hero fight scenes ever.

The other two being the Sentinel attack on the future X-men in the opening of Days of Future Past and the shipboard scene with Cap laying waste at the beginning of Winter Soldier.

The train scene is the best scene out of all Marvel movies. Not only a kickass action sequence, but also very memorable and heartwarming end. Just excellent.
