The Hobbit - Extended Editions?

Has anyone watched the extended editions of The Hobbit? I own the theatrical versions of the 3 LotR and the 3 Hobbit films, but wondering if it's worth watching the EE of The Hobbit.

For LotR, I felt the Fellowship of the Ring was best served by the EE, but didn't feel the other two benefited as much. I haven't seen any of the EE Hobbit films, but understand that Battle of Five armies seems to gain the most, with more character development of the dwarves (such as Bofur's relationship with Bilbo, that axe-headed dwarf getting the axe out) as well as the funeral of Thorin.

Any F:ATtie see the EEs for The Hobbit?

You couldn't pay me to watch those.

I think they released the extended edition of Battle of Fiveish Armies to theatres by mistake. That must have been an extended version I saw. Some of those scenes were obviously going to get edited out in the final cut

Well...I figure since no other film of note is being released this holiday season, I figure I might settle in and watch these.

We could really use a good ol' GENRE film

Yeah, but they all end up looking like action flicks to me...

Battle of the Five Armies extended has not been released yet but I've seen the others. If you enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy then definitely check'em out, otherwise I'd say skip it. I felt the same way about the Lord of the Rings extended editions; they aren't necessary but if you are a fan and want to get more run time and fill out the story a bit then go or it.

An Unexpected Journey - more goblin town and I think the feud between the dwarves and elves is fleshed out more

The Desolation of Smaug - more Beorn in the extended cut along with a whole sequence with Thrain and why he went missing. More Mirkwood encounters are tossed in too.
