You got me so excited, only to bring me down so hard.

Guess I just need to stay off the internet for the next couple of weeks.

Fuck Star Wars.

The timing of its release couldn't be better and couldn't be worse for me. I'm flying down to Palm Springs early Saturday morning, which means I didn't even bother trying to get tickets for opening night here at home in Regina (which has one of only 15 IMAX theatres in the world showing SW on film).

The good news is, I'm going to be at Disneyland on the 21st and 22nd, which means I get to take in Star Wars mania at its absolute apex, including taking a ride on Hyperspace Mountain.

I still don't know when I'm going to see the movie, though. Hopefully sometime during its first week before spoilers become completely unavoidable.

Guess I just need to stay off the internet for the next couple of weeks.

And out of gas stations, restaurants, hardware stores...it is EVERYWHERE.

We're going 8pm on Saturday...I wanted opening day, but I figured it would be better to avoid the opening crush with two little ones. It'll probably still be bad, I think I'm going to go to the theater way early and then have my family come in 20 minutes or so before the show.

That will be awesome being at Disneyland not only during Christmas but during Star Wars mania.

I was also fooled. I like Star Wars. I really do. But having a four year old means seeing way to much star wars shit. Darth Vader space heaters, R2D2 measuring cups, SW toilet paper... it's killed all interest I had in this new film. Temporarily. One of the things I love about Imperial Assault is that it is all new characters that you control and a different story to what's already known. That's keeping it fresh for me. I think otherwise I'd bail on that game.

Luckily I haven't been to a theater since Django Unchained (and only because I needed something to do to stay up late for night shift perpetration) so not seeing SW in a theater will be very natural to me since I don't go to theaters anyway. I'll see it on Canadian netflix when the time comes (it comes to us up here right away, the only netflix in the world to get it!) which is fine by me.

If I do go to the theater this holiday season it will be to see the hateful eight.

So yeah... for now... fuck Star Wars.

Man, the reviews are so great I wanted to cry, it was such a relief knowing that opportunity was not squandered. I can't wait to see it

Weirdly enough I'm not seeing any Star Wars stuff around, I expected it to cover Madrid from side to side but I haven't seen any ads. Back when GTA V the metro was covered in ads for it so it's surprising.

Consider yourself lucky. It's enough to drive a man mad.

Personally I plan on reading every single spoiler I can to kill any desire I have to see the film.

I'm excited for both aspects. Besides Tomorrowland being almost completely overlayed with Star Wars right now, Haunted Mansion is done up like A Nightmare Before Christmas and It's a Small World has been Christmasized as well. Plus, Main Street's decorations, the holiday-themed parades and shows, the winter light/water show in California Adventure Park... it'll be awesome, despite what I'm sure will be insane crowds.

I'm hoping to find a great The Force Awakens t-shirts at the gift shops to wear to the theatre. I bought a wicked Boba Fett t-shirt in Tomorrowland when I was there last spring.

Seeing good reviews makes me feel some relief. I'm trying to hold out til Monday to see it. I'd like to avoid all the crustaceans at the cinema but everybody here who goes opening weekend will be all blah blah and it will drive me just as nuts.

I'll try to see it for my dad's birthday on the 26th with him and my brothers. I'm sure some of the kids will be jealous...heck we might bring some of them.

Meanwhile I'm watching lots of Clone Wars and Rebels.
