When our mighty Kingdom of Poland was turned into grey communist barrack for a while, you still could watch Star Wars but there was little to none capitalist SW merchandise and propaganda up until somewhere around Episode 1. Therefore for a long time it was just one the movies you'd watch on bad quality VHS. I only became aware of any worldwide "cult following" around 1995. Until then it was one of the movies that I thought were "Cool but I'd rather watch The Princess Bride one more time."

Scratch that. A few minutes ago one of the members of the opposition called the president of the ruling party "An evil Sith Lord" (not joking) so from now on it is officially THE GALACTIC SITH EMPIRE OF POLAND
