Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
Top 5 Arnold Schwarzenegger Films
1) Conan
2) The Terminator
3) Running Man
4) Predator
5) The Villain
That was easier than I thought. Maybe there won't be much discussion. I almost went True Lies in the 5th spot, but The Villain has a special place in my heart as a flick that was always on at the youth center when I was a small boy. I haven't seen many of his recent ones, but would like to check out Maggie sometime.

2) Terminator
3) Terminator 2
4) Predator
5) Commando [so bad, it's good. the sheer number of shitty/great one liners is worth it IMO]

2. Terminator
3. Predator
4. Commando
5. Total Recall
His recent films have been pretty good. Maggie isn't bad. He probably acts more in it than all of his other movies combined.

"Sully, remember when I said I would kill you last ? I lied"
And not to mention the absurd body count.

Ranking based largely on nostalgia and watchability...
- PUMPING IRON (The best one-liner here is from Lou Ferrigno, after losing to Arnold insisting that "It dutht maykth me wan to twain hahduh! It dutht maykth me wan to twain hahduh!" He's partially deaf, so this is cruel, but I have never been able to get this out of my head.)
- THE TERMINATOR (The best John Carpenter movie made by someone else. Best use of Arnold in a role too.)
- TOTAL RECALL (Come for sweaty in-her-prime Sharon Stone, stay for Rob Bottin SFX)
- CONAN THE BARBARIAN (2nd best use of Arnold in a role. Can't believe they remade this with that skinny dude.)
- PREDATOR (Stan Winston SFX save the day. Movie's kind of shit though)

1. The Terminator (this is very much HIS movie. He's fantastic in it)
2. Dave (does this count as one of his movies? He's in it and I LOVE this movie)
3. Terminator 2 - this film gets worse and worse everytime I rematch it but I shouldn't forget how great it was the first time
4. Total Recall - why is no one mentioning this?!?! It's GREAT
5. Predator - love it
6. (i'll put a number 6 if Dave doesn't count) um..I guess True Lies. He's really good in this very under appreciated movie.
guilty pleasure: Running Man - this horrible movie is amazing. I can't turn it off when it's playing on TV. I really need a remake of this badly, but done more closely to the Stephen King novella

Never happen, man. Do you remember how this ends? Never happen in a million fucking years.Black Barney wrote: guilty pleasure: Running Man - this horrible movie is amazing. - Terminator and Conan
- The other ones
Granted, some of the other ones are pretty good even at a guilty pleasure level (Commando rules, OK). But most of the other ones are pretty bad (True Lies, Last Action Hero, etc.). Predator sucks. The movie is terrible, it just has a great monster and some awesomely hilarious dudebro moments. One of the two Conan films and three out of the five (!) Terminator movies classify as "the other ones".
The Running Man was way ahead of its time. The movie is crude and badly made, but you can see where it influenced a lot of things from Mortal Kombat to The Hunger Games.

Jeb, I forget how it ends...can you remind me and put it in a spoiler text for others? I remember loving the book but can't remember the ending at all. I just wanted to re-read The Long Walk so badly I think I was tearing through Running Man too quickly

No, not by a mile. Death in your game shows had a lot of play in DEATH RACE 2000 too, don't forget.Black Barney wrote: Does Battle Royale predate Running Man?
In the novella, at least originally, not sure it's still available...Black Barney wrote: Jeb, I forget how it ends...can you remind me and put it in a spoiler text for others? Meanwhile, in RAGE, a sociopathic high schooler has a gun at school and shoots a bunch of teachers and holds students hostage. Written in 1977. I think King let both of these lapse out of print.
