I love this tweet I saw the other day:

I suppose that would work better when Harrison Ford dies, but whatever.

I figured with her health history that this was not going to be something that she recovered from, and I'm sorry to have been proved right.

The 2016 meme is silly and needs to be discarded. What is actually happening is that the baby boomers got old and some of them are now dying about on schedule. That means that 2017, 2018, 2019, etc are likely to feature comparable numbers of celebrity deaths, and blaming it on a year is an exercise in useless handwringing. I realize that American culture is very obsessed with youth, but people get older by the day, and old people eventually die. It's disappointing when some die sooner than expected, and it's reasonable to mourn any loss of people that meant something to us.

I know that the calendar is artificial but I still feel that at this point more celebrities should die, because 2016 can't get any worse but at least 2017 can be salvaged.

I'm sad that Carrie Fisher died, but I am also worried about what kind of world we are going to leave for Keith Richards.
