1. Atomic Blonde - this is the only good movie here. Plus it’s got a great lesbian scene at the 51 minute mark or so. Can’t miss!
2. Valerian - based solely on the recent favourable review written here. I still don’t think it’ll be good but it’s coming from a John Carter enthusiast so it’s right up your alley, White!
Now, onto the trash tier...
3. Bright
4. Jupiter Ascending
5. Mute (this looks sooooo bad)

Mute is fucking HORRIBLE. It’s like a bad student film. Between it and Warcraft, Duncan Jones has blown it.
Bright is bad but at least it’s unique.

That's the second Pitch Black film, right? I saw the first two. Not the third.

All three of them were awesome, trashy, extravagant doses of space opera.

Atomic Blonde is okay.
The other three are hot garbage, especially Bright.
The third Riddick alright. Michael said it best, it’s trash but it’s fun enough.
There’s also an independent sci-fi flick out of Australia on Hulu called The Osiris Child that I watched a couple weeks ago. It’s far from perfect, and its non-linear storytelling will leave you wondering where it’s going in the middle, but I had a good time watching it. It is ambitious beyond its means and does not let its lack of budget deter it from what it hopes to achieve, and its really hard to not be charmed by that. I imagine that same spirit was present in the older Mad Max films. The actors all seem pretty into being there which really helps sell what should be nothing more than pure cheese. It’s also has creatures made with practical effects, so bonus points for that. Don’t go in expecting something great and you’ll have a fun, if bumpy, pulp sci-fi ride. This kind of movie is an endangered species and I can’t help but overlook its flaws for what it does right.
