Legion: The best superhero show on TV

I just started watching this. I’m really surprised Grant Morrison has nothing to do with it because it is VERY Grant Morrison.

I’m kind of shocked that it made it to another season...it is definitely not mainstream superhero fare, and it’s really pretty difficult. The comparison to The Prisoner that Stoic made is a good one.

I really have no idea where this thing is going.

Into the second episode and so far I’m seeing The Prisoner, Silver Linings Playbook, 12 Monkeys... and moments where the voice-over editing & Americana flashbacks remind me of Tree of Life.

This is going to be a ride.

Edit: I also see Jodorowsky/Moebius’s The Incal in its DNA

It is a brilliant crazy, it makes your brain work very hard with you often not knowing if you have got it or not, it uses different ideas whether visual or audio to get a message or plot point across, and the sound tracks are awesome - I have it through my home theater amp playing over surround speakers.
Season 2 opening episode just the same, lost during most of it and think I'm up with it at the end.

Damn you people. Now you made me binge it. Happy? It's probably just me but I found it to be quite scary. Way scarier than Stranger things, which in hindsight wasn't that scary, just really disgusting from time to time.
Warning: Spoiler!

Great acting, casting decisions that work. I'm holding off on season two for now until we're a couple of episodes in, checking out Babylon Berlin instead.

Second season is going extremely well so far. Hasn't missed a beat.

I really dig how the really insane, batshit stuff kind of stopped sticking out. Android chicks with mustaches. A dude with a basket on his head. An extended scene with Gemaine dancing hypnotically, teeth chattering harmoniously.

The interludes of calm and normal are the moments that don't seem to fit.

Not sure how much to read into it, but they just added an extra episode to the end of this season. So far its been as great as the first season. I really hope that extra episode isn't for a series finale. If it is I can't really complain much as its probably better not to drag it out or end on a cliffhanger and get cancelled.

Ratings this season are about half of last season's.... but then again, last season they HEAVILY promoted Legion on Fox. Season 2 didn't get nearly as much promotion.

They better not cancel this show. If the crappy CW shows can continue to reproduce like rabbits and stay on air despite being formulaic garbage, then Legion needs to survive.

I love that even a filler episode is pretty damn interesting.

I thought it was fantastic. Probably the best episode of the season. I wonder how the episode feels if you binge the show instead of watch it weekly...

Hot damn this show is great! I'd gush over everything I liked in any particular episode but I'd just be writing the entire script for that episode.

I don't think my mind could have withstood the pounding if I had binged this show. I can barely keep it together through one episode at a time.

I really enjoy the soundtracks in the episodes (always make sure my AV tuner/amp is switched in for it) as well with some fascinating part tracks being put in by a Jeff Russo (never heard of him before), versions of White Room and Burning Down the House as recent ones.

Ok, I'll go ahead and admit it. I'm getting a little tired of the buildup. I feel like we went from the warp factor 10 psychedelia of season one and landed in a slow fever dream where everyone is too busy questioning reality & even John Hamm is too busy expositing Plato's cave to actually develop any compelling ideas. There's definite development happening but the pacing just feels... lost to me. I'm sure things will change up next episode, though; there's no way that whole "love must defeat narcissism" narrative is the entire driver of events. It's just too on the nose for this show.

I’m also getting tired of the inception-like hijinks, but then find myself entertained by something cool. It has been renewed for a third season.

The Legion FB group has an interview with the show creators which appears to be an attempt at damage control for all the meandering. Someone says, “for me, HOW I fell the story is as important as what happens.” That’s great bit I’m not a college student going to the dollar international films on campus.
