Jack of Fables any good?

Jack of Fables any good? was created by Dair
Any Fables fans reading this series? What do you think? I enjoy Fables, and my wife loves the series, so I've debated. The digital run of the entire series is on sale at Comixology, so now would be the time, if they are good.

I read the entire run for free because the local public library had all the trades. If I had been paying for it, I would have dropped it after the first or second trade. There are a few good scenes after that, but not enough to justify following the whole run. For what it's worth, my favorite Jack story was that time he went to Hollywood. Unfortunately, there is a Jack/Fables crossover near the end of the Jack of Fables run. The crossover is so bad that it hurt both books, so don't feel obligated to buy Jack of Fables just for the sake of those crossover issues.

I've always really enjoyed Fables, though I've not kept up in a while, but all I really remember about Jack of Fables was that I gave up on it pretty early.

I thought it was good, but it was also ok when it ended its run after 50 issues. In the end it got less interesting for me, as it became a bit too 'meta' for my taste (that includes the crossover event 'the Literals'). But if you love Fables you will get more of it by reading (the early) Jack trades, I think, plus you get to see a lot of American fables, which wasn't the case in the Fables comics, I think.

I'm a big Fables fan, but I've never heard great things about Jack of Fables so I've never bothered. There's also another spin-off out about Sleeping Beauty I think.

There is a new one called Fairest, just 2 issues so far, so too early to judge. But the Cinderella spin-offs are great. Forgot the name.metalface13 wrote: I'm a big Fables fan, but I've never heard great things about Jack of Fables so I've never bothered. Alright, I'm torn. I may go the library route to try out one or two trades and then see. Thanks all for the opinions.
