Spider-man - duh!
Nightcrawler - Bamf!
Moon Knight - An obvious Batman ripoff, but I loved it!
But answering today, my love of a character is completely dependent on who is writing:
Daredevil by Frank Miller
Swamp Thing by Alan Moore
Grendel by Matt Wagner
Batman by Miller, Moore, Nolan
I rarely read comics anymore, but when I do, I'm drawn by the writer more than the character.

1. Spider-Man-For all of the obvious reasons that he is easy to relate to and has all of the same problems as other people. His powers are interesting and cool. No he can't fly, but he can stick to surfaces, and that's rad. Loved that he used his brain to defeat the villains as much as his powers. Just always a really endearing character to me. I also loved how he was the geek but for some reason all of the most beautiful girls were always falling in love with him.
2. Batman-On the surface he is the best of all action heroes. Martial artist detective who wields cool gadgets and drives a killer car. Can't lose with those combinations. Also validates the fact that we've all had some kind of experience(s) that make us at least a little messed up and we try to deal with them in our own little ways. I really like Morrison's portrayal of Batman as a guy that is thinking ahead in every way and preparing for any type of threatening situation.

Gary Sax wrote: My wife and I were talking about superheroes at the coffee shop today. She was outraged at the casting choice for Wonder Woman, which she felt deeply betrayed the character's appearance and spirit. Obviously Wonder Woman is her favorite superhero. Which got me thinking about my favorite superheroes.
I thought DC betrayed the character in New 52 when they made her an infantile psychopath.
I never really cared for super heroes, I was always a 2000ad reader. If that counts, then Ace Garp (for the pointy head), Judge Hershey, and Halo Jones. Of the relatively few US style comics I read, I'd have to give the nod to Batman, because of The Killing Joke, and Psylocke from X-Men, on account of purple ninja.
