Yep, the US definitely received favorable calls from the referee. It is a shame, as it is hard to celebrate a win that may or may not have been deserved. I would prefer to see a fairly called game, no matter the outcome.

I would like to invite all you Hope Solo haters to enjoy a big bowl of "shut the fuck up." The US defense has been subpar throughout this whole tournament, at least the center backs, and Hope has been spectacular (she was good in the Canada game that some ripped her for). It is not her fault she can't stop pinpoint shots that her defense allows the opposing team time to take. I will say she is probably a bit too vocal and was on the wrong end of the Brandi Chastain criticism, but that has nothing to do with her skills on the field.

As long as Hope and her Twitter account have the first steaming mug of STFU, I'd consider it. Otherwise...why? She's not quite 1 tweet away from being Joey Barton with a ponytail, but definitely in the same "class"...

And, no, the team really can't defend worth a damn. But, they sho' can score like all get out. Sometimes that's enough.

Dog, she does need to shut up, but Joey Barton? That's crazy. He is a poor sportsman who constantly let's his temper flare up on the pitch. Hope Solo doesn't deserve to even be in the same sentence with him. I can live with mouthy off the field, because I can choose to just watch the matches (I still don't like it).
