Pay Pal or Throw the cash in the box?

So, I never got a chance to try out the warmachine army I got in the last math trade. So, I'm trading it for TTR Europe and $50, which is a smashing deal for what I sent out for it in the first place. Should I have him send the $50 through pay pal, or thrown it in the box with ttr?

If pay pal, how do I receive the money? Never sold anything like this before online.

Have him write you a check and put it in the box. No PayPal fees, and cash in the mail is a general no no.

Then you get the check after waiting a week for it to come in the mail, you've got to make a trip to the bank, wait in line, and then oops! The check bounces. I've had it happen a couple of times and I'll never accept checks again unless it's somebody I know.

Paypal is fine. People that rail against it are on the level of folks that don't trust ATMs. The fee is something like 3%, which seems like a lot until you figure out how much hassle you save to get instant payment that you can deposit straight into your bank account, or you can have Paypal cut you a check if you're worried about them having your bank account number for some paranoid reason. If the fee is a problem, ask the buyer to split it with you. On a $50 sale, it's just a dollar more than buying a stamp.

Sign up for Paypal and all the buyer has to do is to send the payment to your account. If they don't have Paypal, they can still send with a credit or debit card. That's one huge advantage of taking Paypal as a seller- your buyers can use CCs.

The only time I've ever had trouble with Paypal was when I sold two Wii packages on eBay in 2006. Because it was a high fraud item at the time and the sales were like $1500 total, they froze my funds until I supplied them with proofs of transaction and receipt of goods. It was a pain in the ass to get my money, but it was a fraud protection measure- not some kind of weird Paypal evil or malfeasance.

THanks, Barnes, you're right. For a dollar, it's really not an issue. So I just give him my paypal email and when he sends it I select receive funds and choose the card linked to my paypal account? I only use one card on paypal.

PayPal is bullshit. Fees who cares, but their agreement is that they can do literally anything with funds you have with them. They freeze funds, take money from your bank account and generally fuck over sellers all the time.

As long as the guy doesn't try to lie to paypal to get his money back, I should be ok though, right?

I prefer USPS Money Orders. If he's going to the Post Office anyway to send your package, it's not that big of a hassle to get one.

If they're already sending you a game, I prefer cash in the box. If they get tracking and insurance it should be fine.
