There's a couple of articles on them in the local restaurant papers. They have a Galaga machine so it may be worth the trip. But it's really an odd market mix. I'd be curious to know if gamers actually show up to play, and if they do what they're like.

Looks to me like the partners couldn't come up with a name/concept so they picked up Monopoly, Connect 4, and Backgammon at a garage sale and voila! How many friggin' IPA's do you need anyway? This place will have the usual buzz around it that any bar first opening in DC has, then it will fade quickly into obscurity unless they try to give folks a better reason to come in than football and 6 different IPA's to choose from. And adding Parcheesi ain't gonna do it...

In Vancouver
this
has been getting some press. I may be heading there this Friday for a gaming session.
I know of some gamers who have gone and have given it high praises

Oh jesus, another "let's try to make games seem adult and sophisticated by adding wine and cheese, (so to speak). Come the fuck on, if I had a dollar for every time someone around me or online has talked about "adult" gaming and used the wine and cheese argument...this shit has been going on since the 3M bookcase games. Look at the back of those. Look how sophisticated and adult fucking Twixt looks when there's merlot and a cheese plate on the table next to the fire.
The vintage board game thing is a mistake, because most mainstream bar goers don't give a fuck about themes like this, they want a good place to get a drink. Gamers will get all huffy that they show Monopoly and Connect Four and not all of those sophisticated games that are played every day in every single European home.
Their graphic design is cute, though. But who the hell is going to sit around and play Careers in a bar?
