Sounds like you Northeastern folk are in for quite the Ice Age. What's the word up there on Snowmageddon 2013? A couple years back in the 2011 Midwest blizzard I knew a guy who got stuck on a highway in Oklahoma during a blizzard and was stranded for 40 hours. Another guy I knew had to walk two miles home because he car died here in Kansas City.

So all that to say, everyone stay warm/dry/safe/etc.

The news informs me that we are all going to die.

At the very least tomorrow is going to suck. The weak of heart will panic and cower and the rest of us will pull up our collars and keep on keepin' on.

I didn't really mean to "thank" that post.

News like this makes me appreciate it's 80 in Austin right now. When it's 110 in June, I'll be singing a different tune, I'm sure.

Bring it on. I've been through the blizzard of 78, the 2 foot April Fools Day storm of 97, all sorts of shit. I'm ready.

Judging by the Long Island gas lines tonight, you would think it was the Apocolypse.

I assume the tow truck business will be booming. New games for everyone!

I went to work last night. When I tried to come back home, it took me three hours to get to my back streets, and then my car became snowbound in the middle of my cross street. I may have to wait for the snowplows.

Replied by billyz on topic Re: Hitch up your dog sleds.
The biggest problem here is that the cities that saw this massive snow dump take place- generally don't- and that of course means that they don't have systems in place to get rid of the snow, because the budgetary expense involved just wouldn't be justified, and people just don't know how to act with all that snow. Montreal saw a 3 ft snowfall in late December: ALL major highways, and service roads were clear within 24 hrs in the city and suburbs. And no douchebag dared dump snow in the middle of the fucking street (who does that?)

Were there fatal accidents? You bet- people think that as soon as they throw some snow tires on they can barrel down the highway like it's mid-June. our local tow-jockies couldn't be happier.

The past two storms (Sandy, and now "Nemo") I have been so desensitized to the weather reports being historically over-hyped I went to work and then had trouble getting home. From now on, I am staying safe and calling out whenever a "superstorm" is predicted to hit, no matter how much hype it may be.

By the way, when did weather channels start naming storms after children's show characters? Way to traumatize a kid: "I remember when your gramma was killed by Nemo in the winter of 2013, and Elmo killed Uncle Ned in the Fall of 2014."

Is anyone still buried in snow? I have co-workers who live on the Eastern end of Long Island who are saying they STILL can't get their car out.
