Good luck, SaMoKo. Cold turkey?

I couldn't kick the nic and had to go the ecig route.

Ecig for me too. Haven't even had the urge to light up after vaping.

What gear are you using?

Yeah, it's amazing how good it works. I thought it was a stupid gimmick that would never work but I'm glad to be wrong. It's really taken off around here. Seeing vapers in public used to be as rare as finding a unicorn nest but now I see at least one every time I go anywhere. Vape shops and weed stores are getting to be as common as nail salons and pho joints in the PNW lol.

Yup, starting to see a few of them. Not as common as they should be, but not rare anymore. City is trying to fight them as they can't tax them, but it's ok for the mayor to smoke a crack pipe. Meanwhile, doctors are trying to push them as fast as they can, the place I stock at is run by a cardiologist. Toronto is the dumbest city on earth, I swear. Fuck I miss BC.

I'm using an eGo style ecig, looks like a thin robot dick. Refillable glassomizer type, bottom mounted heating coil (Aspire). Might eventually upgrade to a better battery, as mine only seems to last about a day and a half.

Favorite flavors so far are Milk and Honey (tastes like cereal and milk), Blueberry/Coconut, and Peach Custard. Don't even want to go back to cigarettes, these things own.

The state is still trying to put a huge tax that would double the price for anything vape related in Washington. I stopped following what's going on because it just made my gut ache. It's going to happen eventually, I'm certain. Even worse is they wanted to forbid internet sales. That fucks me over completely since the only place I can get the liquid I use is from Cali. And, like boardgames, I fucking buy everything else I need online as well.

I'm not against sane regulation or fair taxes but fuck...

Anyway, Big tobacco is going to have to fight to the death because I predict in 20 years nobody will touch that shit.

I was able to quit in like three days with ecigs. My few attempts at quitting before that lasted in the hours. Without question tobacco cigs are the most addictive substance I've personally encountered. The damage is done, I can only hope I've gotten an extention on life.

Oh, I'll have to check out the Aspire. I haven't had any luck finding something that will wick 100% VG juice properly yet so I'm still doing the atomizer drip method. Not recommended.

A day and a half is pretty good battery life. I get about 13 hours on my variable voltage eGo. Fuck those slim penstyles.

I like bakery or coffee flavors mostly. There was one blueberry I really liked but I can't do most fruits for some reason. Boba's Bounty is my fave but since everybody describes the taste differently so I'll just say semi-sweet nutty.

What are you guys paying for a ml of juice in Canada? Just curious.

Price varies, but one places I shop at charges $18 for 3x10ml bottles, another charges $17 / 30ml bottle. 6-7 per 10ml seems to be about standard.

I saw one in a shop window in Lyon that looked so Cyberpunkish that I wished I smoked so I'd have an excuse to buy it. Sort of like this:

(Not a smoker myself)

I see this fucking shit where doctors and shit are reluctant to fully recommend e-cigs and whatnot. What a bunch of horseshit. Yes, nicotine alone is still a little bad for you. But compared to smoking cigarettes? This country's insane puritanism boggles my mind sometimes, it prevents making sane recommendations about minimizing harm from something *people will do anyway* and all it hurts is public health. See condoms vs. abstinence argued for anything but purely religious reasons.

Like I said, I don't smoke, but this shit is a no-brainer to me.

Towards the end of November will be two years since I've stopped smoking. I used the gum myself.
Out of curiosity - Are y'all looking to quit nicotine? Or cigarettes/tobacco? Is it viewed as an aid to quit nicotine? Or a replacement for tobacco?

I used them to quit smoking over 5 years ago. Went to e-cig exclusively, and then a month or two later, stopped nicotine completely. I didn't even find it difficult. One of my best purchases ever!

Regarding the last two questions I would say both. Some people are content enough just to be off the death sticks.

My plan (which I got from the net) was to step down the nic levels until I get to zero. At that stage it's just kicking the whole ritual of it. I started at 36mg strength and am down to 24mg. Of course I should be down to 6 by now... The honest truth is that I'd become complacent and hadn't even thought about it until you asked.

I hate to admit it to myself and anyone else but I like smoking. It doesn't make any sense and is completely stupid. But there ya go. I suppose I'm in a sort of limbo right now and I can't give you an honest answer as to what I want.

Yeah, I really enjoyed smoking. Every so often I'm still hit with an urge to smoke, not for the nicotine or anything...Just for the act, something to do at that moment. I had a cigar about a year back and it really screwed me up for about a week after. I miss pipes and cigars, but still I feel like I shouldn't tempt fate.

I tapered down with the gum and eventually I started to realize that on the weekends my first piece would be later and later in the day. As soon as I had one though it was all I thought about...Then one weekend I wanted to see how long I could go, then about 7 at night I thought, "Well I've gone pretty much all day, might as well have one". Then by the time I went to bed I had another half dozen. The weekend after I wondered if I could make a full day and never had one since.

To be honest, I'm kind of glad that the eCigs took off after I quit.

Yeah, I think it's about the same here. I stopped shopping around and just order bulk 100ml at a time. That costs me $52 and lasts almost three months.

Here, you're only allowed to vape in places where it's legal to smoke. That means pretty much nowhere except the Native American casinos. I have no idea what it's like elsewhere. On tv they're always saying how you can vape anywhere heh. What's cool is I don't have to go outside anymore when I visit my friends for gaming or whatever.

Yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from. You are definitely better off. Vaping is still another shitty habit. I would never encourage anybody who wasn't a heavy smoker to ever try it. Vaping is only better than smoking.

I can't complain much, I feel better and my friends tell me I used to cough like crazy. I still have a bit of a cough, mostly when I wake up. That's to be expected after nearly 30 years of cigs but it's gone waaaay down.

If one of my patients (dentist not doctor - however we can prescribe anti-smoking meds and have some training in the area) asked about E-Cigs I would be far more reluctant to recommend or prescribe an e-cig regimen over the more established anti-smoking meds. Sure its better than cigs, but we honestly don't know the long term effects, especially when it comes to the oral damage and effects they can cause. I realize you are speaking toward the extreme viewpoints who are straight condemning use, but I am not one to replace one habit for another until we know more about its effects both long and short term. Realistically looking at situations it may be a useful aid, but its a dangerous place for doctor recommendation right now until we know more. Lots of patients ask me if they should chew instead of smoke to improve their health or vice-versa, I'm not trying to argue e-cigs are the same as that, but as health providers we need to tread very carefully.

(All this being said, realistically if I knew the patient would be non-compliant with quitting and such I'd much rather have them on e-cigs then regular smokes or chew variants. Good luck all those trying to kick the habit.)

It's more of a replacement. As a replacement to cigarettes, it's much easier to ween off an ecig, and is a less harmful habit in every way.

Most of my (smoking) goth friends have switched from cigarettes to e-cigs in recent years. Hardly any of them still smoke cigarettes anymore.
