I've had a few people here and on Facebook express concern because of the tornadoes in DFW. We're all fine, visiting family in Kansas.

Stay safe out there with the blizzard coming to the Plains. Lots of crazy weather just now.

Yep. Blizzard time. 8-14 inches supposedly, 10 foot drifts on the road...

West Texas is so fucking ridiculous. Same in the panhandle of Oklahoma -- my grandmother is battening down the hatches.

It... it wouldn't be my first choice of place to live. If we're stuck here we're buying a house in new mexico.

I get out of work at 5, and it's supposed to get bad around 6. So I'm going to head home, park at the top of the hill, and watch a couple movies.

We ended up with like 10 inches of snow and mayor asked for disaster funds from the state. It's pretty impassable out here because, remember, city of Lubbock has like 2 snowplows and uses no salt. I'm the only one at work right now in my whole building.

Growing up in Illinois, the whole attitude of and unpreparedness of Texans for winter weather is truly comical. Watching every pickup truck with no weight in the bed gun it as hard as possible at green lights... last night while we were walking our dogs we just found this "badass" lifted Jeep Wrangler abandoned in our neighborhood parked perpendicular to the curb in the middle of a residential street.

My sister lives in Rowlett Texas, and they could see the tornado from their 2nd story porch. They lucked out the tornado changed course that was headed right for their house.

Yeah, the stuff near Dallas sounded pretty hairy re: tornadoes.
