It's a Girl
Unfortunately, in my glee at possibly having an excuse to go hogwild on action figures we hadn't really been considering femme names. We'd come to an agreement on boys name (Malachi) pretty easily - girls name are proving to be a bit more problematic - So I'm looking for suggestions, as my wife and I currently fishing for a girls name....My oldest was named Taylor apparently at a time when that went viral - There were Taylor boys and Taylor girls in every social group she got into over the years - My youngest, Maya, has been blessed to have a not as common name - We are looking for something different, that won't be shared with 10 other kids in her graduating class - I've been enamored with gaelic/celtic names (Dierdre, Aoife, Maeve, Siobhan) but she hasn't found one that she likes yet.

Llewella is unusual and celtic but sounds reasonably normal when spoken aloud.
Gwendolyn is celtic and used to be more common but might pass for more unusual now.

I'm real partial to Jordan for a girl, but I think it may be sort of common. We had the option of having all members of the family having names that start with 'J' that I was sort of angling for. My wife wasn't down with it...mainly because her older sister's family is a family of four 'M's.
I understand wanting to go unique, heck with my last name there was an urge to go different as well. Go with what you like, but I beg of you please don't go with a name that you may hear in a bro-country song...like Bentley.

Up and comers, honest-to-God names of girls in my kids' social circles
Maya--you might be too late on this one. There's at least four of them.
Anything ending in "-ia"--Not kidding, my son's pre-school has Rhea, Ria, Thea, Mia, and is taught by Miss Keya.
Aviva--Could be big! Need's a celeb imprimatur to make it explode.
Emerson
Dakota
Tatum
Alana
Cassidy
Waverly
Nadine
Piper
Matilda
Roni, also Ronit--should do a bunch of Israeli ones here. Shulamit, Inbal, Efat, Meital, Mia, Shir, Shiri, Ayelet, Edden, Sivan, Yael, Shai, Liat, Orli I could go on. My kids' names are in that pile there.
And "Jordan" as in the river, would be Yarden.

Oh, and my recommendation is Emily. It's a classic and never goes out of style.

Or Merle Haggard?

Merle Haggard is a solid suggestion - virtually guaranteeing no prom dates, and other forms of high school anxiety that could serve as a muse for some fantastic country songs - And I could be her manager - WINNING!
One of my wife's friends said apparently my magical gifting is to raise princesses.

Of course, girls are probably different about names. So many guy names are generic, one-syllable grunts, like Bob or Steve or Joe, while girls can more readily rock an unusual name.

Then I think of a bunch of names that can double as Eastern European or German and Hispanic names, like Natalia or Sonia (Sonja?) because of my and my girlfriend's backgrounds. I like Anya too, but then realized what would happen if someone took roll and said my last name first... It seems like everyone has an irish or irish sounding name these days. All of those -aidens. I want to avoid a final N, but maybe I'm being weird.
And I don't need to worry about it for awhile anyway. I like thinking about names though. When it comes to a middle name I recommend having it start with a consonant if the first name ended with a vowel. Natalia or Sonia Ann/Ana? No way!

I like the sound of Silvia and Sofia, though the first one probably doesn't sound as good in English as it does in German.

If I had another girl, I would have named her Saoirse , pronounced seer-sha. Love it, super Irish, sounds like the kind of name you're looking for
