Last question before I try to get this thing rolling...

I'm using wordpress and it looks like I have the option of going free where my domain name will be [name].wordpress.com or I can pay $18 a year to have it be [name].com (with I assume \wordpress\ after that.

So, either way it looks like wordpress will be in the url, but in the free instance it appears as if I'm part of the wordpress.com domain.

Besides cost, what are the benefits either way?

yes, I'm old and out of touch. I should have asked these questions in '03...

It's been years for me, but I remember having more options and control over the site when we moved to a personal URL and away from blah.wordpress.com.

I don't think \wordpress\ was ever part of our site. As I say, it was years ago.

I opted for a .com but honestly, it's overkill. I did it because I wanted a persistent email address.

Man, these themes are terrible. Well, I should say the customization...er...lack of...is.

I used to be able to go into the CSS and play with the look. Add my own image files for backgrounds, etc. Seems you can't do that anymore in these free themes, but are only limited to their pre-built options.

Oh well, get what you pay for...
