My girlfriend is on vacation in Canada and since I'm stuck at home she's going to get me some junky treats. I want to try some stuff that is not available in the states. Chocolates are my favorite but fruity is good as long as it's not super chewy. Super chewy/sticky or stuff like Butterfinger that clings to your teeth is definitely out. And if it's super hard or crunchy like peanut brittle, forget it. Cake-y stuff is good, marshmellow I like too. Berry flavors, mmm...

I want some weird fuckin' candy!

Maybe a bag of some salty, savory snacks as well.

I don't have a sweet tooth so I can't help you out. Your preference is chocolate?

My favourite chocolate bar of all time is a Canadian one. I hoard them at Halloween. It's called Coffee Crisp. It's amazing.

Mr. Big was my favourite in high school , try that.

A box or two of Glosettes should be had. I prefer raisins but some people prefer peanuts.

Now, I have a big salt tooth and we have two things here you have to try... Dill pickle chips, and Ketchup chips. Wonderful stuff.

Most Canadians worth their salt will recommend a Crunchie bar. DO NOT eat one. I guarantee you will hate it more than I do.

Smarties refer to an M&M type candy here, but they're much better. I'll second that Crunchie bars are fucking awful, and it's one of the worst offenders for clinging to your teeth. Wunderbar is a bit sticky, but probably the best chocolate bar here.

Also, have her bring a big bag of Quebec cheese curds back to make your own poutine.

Smarties are Emily's favourite candy, great suggestion. Make sure to eat the red ones last.

I tried a Coffee Crisp once. It was pretty good. Chocolate covered wafers layered with coffee flavor.

Nanaimo bars are fucking awesome! Not sure if they're big outside of BC, she should check with a large grocery store's bakery.

Nanaimo bars are quite common in Ontario, as far as I've seen. Such a great dessert!

I'm no Canadian candy expert, but all their chocolate is better than American chocolate ... well at least as far as mass produced candies go. The Canadian Kit-Kats are simply better than ours. Smarties are also delicious.

Mmm, those Nanaimo bars look dreamy. I hope I can score some. Nanaimo is nice, I went salmon fishing there with my dad a long time ago. I'll never forget that trip. We caught salmon wider than Conan's chest. And I swear to god I fell in love with this Canadian flight attendant. Seriously one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen in my life. Fucking sophisticated too. I can't think of a bad thing to say about Canada except I saw a real ugly hooker there. Ok, the rock bands aren't that great except maybe GY!BE =P

Sorry, rambling. Anyway, thanks for making my candy list and if you think of anything else that's good or just kind of odd let me know. The gf is leaving Vancouver tonight and heading for Jasper(?) and then Bamf! I get a staycation (I know, that word sucks) and boy do I ever need it.

Jasper and Banff are beautiful, lucky her!

i'm on a staycation as well, and my g/f just got me GTA V for xmas. yay :)

how is seeing an ugly hooker bad for Canada? Isn't that a good sign since beautiful girls clearly have better opportunities in this country than selling their buddies? Obviously nothing can be done with ugly women, not in this country or any other.

Don't know about rock, but Canada had some truly great punk rock bands: NoMeansNo, I Spy, Propagandhi, D.O.A., SNFU and the Hanson Brothers to name a few.

It's all rock 'n roll to me. There are some good groups but I was just kidding anyway. My friend really liked NoMeansNo but I thought they were just ok.
