Isn't this how 'The Stand' started?

Scary shit. Hopefully we won't be seeing any cases of Captain Trips.

I haven't read The Stand in decades, but I thought that the opening scene involved a car crashing into the pumps at a gas station.

Right, but the guy who crashed the car had just been able to escape the army bio-chem weapons facility he worked at because the lockdown protocol didn't start fast enough. An army bio-chem weapons facility like the one in Utah...

Randall Flagg may be afoot...

On Christmas eve, our baby came down with a nasty stomach bug, and it proved to be super contagious. Everyone got it at some point, always for about 12 hours. Some people caught it merely by being in his presence. About everyone we knew got it at some point.

I just read The Stand for the first time this summer, so it reminded me of that.

VX, though, isn't a pathogen. It's a poison, and one of the nastiest poisons that ever came from British minds.

If that "teaspoon" sized vial had been found on the ground, broken, it would've only been dangerous if someone actually physically touched it. It's only really dangerous when sprayed.

I'm not sure if its comforting or terrifying that you understand so much about nerve agents.

It's not just nerve agents. Not to sound too arrogant, as I don't mean to, I know a lot of shit about a lot of shit. A year of "house arrest" in a room with nothing but encyclopaedias and classic novels will do that to a guy. Don't even get me started on the Constitution...

There's even now a conspiracy theory flying around now. I've only heard it on our local radio news (I live in SL County), but apparently in the middle of it all a helicopter was flown in, and then it flew out. The "official" story is it was to take a pregnant woman, who went into labor during the lockdown, to the hospital. Or...was it they flew someone--or something--in? <whistles Twilight Zone theme>

anytime you hear this

Not to sound too arrogant, as I don't mean to

you know what follows is going to sound arrogant. FWIW, I am a big fan of the disclaimer that isn't a disclaimer :)

No offense, Pete, just giving you grief.
