Super Laggy

Super Laggy was created by Stephen Avery
F:AT has been super laggy for me over the last couple of days. Some of the other sites have been too but not to the extent F:AT. I'm thinking it might be my laptop.
Anyone else experiencing this?

It has been slow (to other sites) from over this side of the pond, seems better/OK today.

I've noticed it to, both here and at other sites, especially hotmail.com. Now that Netflix is moving more of their business in the direction of online streaming, maybe we're getting into more of a bandwidth problem in the U.S. It's too bad that Obama didn't direct more of that stimulus money towards infrastructure projects, like increasing bandwidth, fixing old bridges, and repairing roads.

Yeah, it's been slow as hell for me. It's a bit better now, but not much.

Digging the new avy, Tom.

Occasionally slow page loading here too. But what's been really annoying is trying to cut and paste to quote someone in a reply. It doesn't start when I drag but several characters later.

That can't be a site issue. Probably has to do with the crappy software you use.

So you're an expert on crappy software too? Your talents know no bounds!

Why can't it be a site issue when it started occurring at the same time as the slow down? Nothing has changed with the software I'm using (since you're such an expect I don't need to tell you what it is).

Wow. I was only making a joke about your choice in computer utensils. Won't ever happen again.

I think it's Brannagyn's fault. [just kidding]

I've been getting really slow connections intermittently to all sites (not just F:AT). I assumed it was my provider (AT&T). I'm not sure yet if there is also a problem with F:AT or not. Our server was upgraded about a week ago, so I would be expecting better, not worse performance. I may need to go back and re-tweak some stuff.

I've been seeing this lagginess from two different setups:

At home, I'm running two different PCs on a Comcast high-speed connection. One is an '03 HP and the other is an '07 HP, both on XP.

At work, I'm running an '08 Dell PC on Vista (no, I wasn't given a choice regarding either Dell or Vista) on a T-1 line from a local phone carrier.

Since when?
Is it just F:AT, or other sites?
Is all the time, or just once in a while?
Is it more at laggy at certain times?

Since... I'm not sure, sometime within the last couple of months. It wasn't obvious at first.

F:AT, CBR (a large comic book discussion forum), and especially hotmail.com. I haven't noticed lags with other sites, but possibly they are a bit slower.

It isn't all the time, but the lags are often enough that I've been quite aware of it for a few weeks now.

I haven't noticed F:AT being more laggy at certain times. Hotmail is laggy at obvious times, like after work, during lunchtime, etc. CBR is especially laggy at night, but that site has been like that for a couple of years now.

We did have a server problem. It seems that we have it fixed for now, but I need to do some more research.

What? I can't make a retaliatory dig without using an emoticon? I guess your talents do have a boundary after all!
Bugger, where's the insert a sticking out a tongue emoticon icon when you need one? (Do we blame Brannagyn for that too?)

Several days ago.
Just F:AT.
Generally slower than it used to be, but it does vary.
Haven't noticed it being at any particular time.

Oh, I'm on 24Mbps and it really is very close to that speed.
