No Column Today

More
29 Mar 2011 15:42 #92602 by Ken B.
No Column Today was created by Ken B.
I am sorry everyone, but...the article editor and I don't always get along. Today's was almost wrapped up, I was literally resizing one image, and I accidentally clicked the wrong thing. Wow, look, I can't go forward or back, my form is blank.

This isn't the first time this has happened to me; but usually I'm able to go back and re-create. Today, I'm running waaaay too short of time.

So my apologies, but I'll be back next week.

And seriously...fuck web forms. Fuck them up their stupid, no-memory-having assholes.

So you're saying Ken B. will be gone, and that he will be back next week?

I write in Wordpad and close, then open in Word, then use F:At's "Paste From Word" feature and it comes in with all the bold and italics and the like preserved. The images need to be added in at the end on F:At's editor, but at least you don't lose textual content.

jeb ftw

I also write in Wordpad. Ken you should use some type of word processor to avoid these mishaps.

anyway, cheer up. The good news is that we only lost an, at best, average article

I'll try that, Sag. Usually when I paste from Wordpad I get all sorts of weird tags and formatting issues. But that's preferable to losing a whole article.

I thought he said he couldn't go forward or back, except to procreate. And something about not getting along with the article editor and wanting to fuck webforms. (Is that a bondage or plastic fetish thing?)

I use Google docs to write mine as this happened to me one too many times. Alternatively get Firefox/Chrome and install the Lazarus add-on or something similar that auto-saves form content as you type it.

OMGWTFBBQ! Thanks, I didn't know such an amazing add-on exists!

You're welcome. It's a bit of a double-edged sword because - as you can probably imagine - it can get pretty resource intensive and sometimes slows your browser down. But on the other hand it's such a complete, absolute lifesaver in some situations that I think that's a price well worth paying.

So what I'm hearing is, "Ken will be coming back to the Fort soon."

Excellent.
