Elections of US America Election: The Card Game

I've written USAmerica for a long time now. Whenever I need to refer to the States that's what I write. Personally I got it from George Bowering, a Canadian poet and intellectual (our first poet laureate actually) who used it quite a bit in his history books... One on the province I live in (B.C.) and one on Canadian Prime Ministers - surprisingly good books actually considering the dull topic. I like the term and think that it's kind of funny, maybe even mildly subversive in the way it pokes fun at leftover linguistics from the Manifest Destiny days.

As for this game... I couldn't be less interested since I don't really care about USAmerica politics, even if they are more entertaining then they have any right to be.

I think Exploding Kittens is going to kick off a land-grab attitude on games. Put a provocative theme on a simple game, sell 100,000 copies. It's easy money if you have an IP and a following that you can market to.

One of the reasons I was interested in doing this project, even though I'm in the UK is 1) US politics are much more 'out there' at UK ones. Grteat to watch but I'm glad I'm not part of it! But 2) Outcome of the US election does, for good or ill, impact all of us... Thanks.

As an American myself, I don't find our election system to be the least bit entertaining. It's a terrifying, depressing shitstorm that makes me physically ill.

While I wish you all the best with your new game, I can tell you that the only themes I find less palatable than "U.S. Elections" would be "genocide" or "child abuse."

Thanks for best wishes and one one of the three terrible things you list I'd make a game out of...

Hopefully the project will bring some cheer to the topic :)

You're about as much a part of it as I am. I'm in one of the 44 states that dependably vote for the same party each election cycle. And my state's primary is too late to make any difference at the party level.

Ok I have done some focus group testing to see what people think about the two names.

Your original name people think will be a game with a sense of humor where most of the cards will make you laugh but will be lightweight beer and pretzel novelty thang a la Munchkin

Smear Campaign has people thinking that it will be a nasty take that kinda game with reversals of fortune and screwage.

Personally, I loves me some screwage but don't know what exactly your design entails. We have no copy write on that title, so feel free to use it. If you do I may have to buy a copy for my wife.

Makes sense that people on the other side of the pond think of us as US Americans. I don't think many people here beyond Miss South Carolina use that appellation though.

Well, if nothing else, our country's race to the bottom involving endless unwinnable wars, poisoned water, drone murders, feudalistic labor arena, violent racism, armed lunatics, and idiot candidates amuses the English.

Is this a real thing happening, not just in fiction? Though you probably mean overseas rather than on home soil.

Add a card that says, "You live in Maryland, no one gives a damn about your vote, lose a turn."

Dude, your man stands accused of sodomizing pigs, and US politics is "more out there"? How about the Britain First movement? All of us in the west are pretty much fucked. Even Canada had their "Marion Berry Moment" with Rob Ford smoking crack with hookers (which I, for one, respect his right to do).

(Edit: FWIW, I am not in the least bit offended. I am of the Jim Jeffries mindset: fuck the cunts, all of them, and hand me a glass of whisky.
