It had its 80's moments. I remember liking the bad guy.

That Highlander is an 80s movie, the more the pity, its faded print does witness it; but that it is, saving your reverence, a terrible movie, that I utterly deny. If a Queen soundtrack and comedic decapitation be a fault, God help the wicked! if to be a French Scotsman and a Scottish EGYPTIAN Spaniard be a sin, then many an old actor that I know is damned. No, my good lords; banish Highlander 2, banish Highlander 3, banish Highlander: Endgame: but for sweet Highlander, kind Highlander, true Highlander, valiant Highlander, and therefore more valiant, being, as it is, old Highlander, banish not it thy FATties' company, banish not it thy FATties' company: banish poor Highlander, and banish all the world.

The point is, the movie remains a late 20th century tale about a man coming to terms with his homosexuality. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't watched this movie even once and understood it. And if literally getting head in the parking garage of a professional wrestling match (a sword fight of course) and then experiencing an electrifying moment doesn't tip you off, please go back to watching your caped superhero tropes and leave analysis to the pros. I do like Sean Connery as the prim and swashbuckling older "Spanish peacock" gentleman coaching the young Connor into the life, encouraging him to leave his girl and join the Immortals. It all feels very proper. And gotta love that Queen soundtrack.

“From the dawn of time we came…moving silently down through the centuries. Living many secret lives..."

"You a faggot Nash?"
"Why, Garfield? You cruisin' for a piece of ass?"

Delightful.

HIGHLANDER vs FLASH GORDON. Which Queen soundtrack/movie is more vintage 80s/cheesy ? FLASH def is more quotable.

Huh. Haven't seen it since it was in the theaters. Didn't notice the thematics of that back then.

Is it worth seeing again? I recall getting to see a sequel with Mario Van Peebles free at the Naval Academy later on . . . hey wait a minute . . . is this why the Navy guys like Highlander so much?

Whoa, hold up! Clearly Lambert says, "You cruisin' for a piece of ice?"

Such a great horrible accent.

I'll say Flash, but I've listened to A Kind of Magic, which is a de facto soundtrack (though there is an official one), more often.

Touche. That said, Connor plainly demonstrates contempt for Ramirez' dandy ways on a few occasions, even as he's warming up to him.
The center holds. The allegory is made plain. Not until Top Gun are the "Go the gay way" themes so overtly teased out.

There was a Highlander CCG back in the '90s. I never tried it. There were special rare cards that you had to physically tear in half after playing them, and I couldn't bear the idea of destroying rare cards.

The CCG was actually kind of fun. I really like the sword fight aspect. That part was great. There were whole decks where you never needed to sword fight. That part felt way wrong. Especially because they were just better.
