Summoner Wars Master Set - In Stores Now Hot

I had this game and then sold it off. Looks like I'm rebuying this when the new deluxe box comes out in June.

Ohh, nice. I bought the original two starters back when they were on sale and only just got around to playing them. It lived up to the hype. Good fun and quick.
Looks like this will be added to my wishlist.

I was a bit surprised, because I have been a bit spoiled at the really reasonable postage when ordering the other Summoner Wars products from Plaid Hat Games.

Agreed Death and Taxis! Over 50 bucks to ship takes it OFF pre-order and will wait til MilSims has it in stock...but totally buying it that day!

Happy to see these guys are doing so well and that they listened to their customers. This will definetly get more people into the game IMO.

This is one of the best game announcements in a while. I'm super excited about this. I've been playing SW quite a lot lately including solo games and it just gets better and better.

FYI: You CAN NOT play this 4-player right out of the box. This is a 2-player game.

The shipping is so nasty because the box is over the first class shipping weight limit, eliminating the only sane international shipping rate available to me. While I love you guys for making an effort to order direct. I totally understand the need to wait on the distributors to bring it over in bulk on this one.

To expand on Pete's statement, Summoner Wars can be played up to four, but there won't be enough premium boards to handle it in this set. You can use the paper mats from the previous starters and combine them for 4 players. I have only done it once, but the downtime was bad. It is a team game, but I think this is best one v one. Then again, I hated most multiplayer MtG games as well, so it could just be me.

So *this* is what has kept Colby so busy that he can not come down to Trashfest South in June. All this time I just thought he was busy fending off flying blue monkeys.

Unfortuanetly I've already bought a bunch of Summoner Wars stuff. How much for an empty box to keep it all in?

I actually think it's really good as a four player game but not with AP-prone players.

I've really enjoyed playing it with 4 players, but it takes about 3 times as long to play as a regular 2-player game.

I will definitely be picking this up. I'd pay that much for the six new factions alone (the existing 6 factions would run about $70 purchased individually). The extra premium board is just gravy.

Sounds great. When I get this I'll be able to give one of my deluxe boards away (I already have two) and still feel I got my money's worth. I'll be picking it up from a FLGS.

4 player is lots of fun if you have extra time. Also you don't really need boards at all, you can mark the edges and figure it out from there. It's a grid, not rocket science.
Mind you, the boards are nice and I'm glad I have premium ones. But I've done 4 player just fine without.

I'll be getting this. I bought the master sets during the Plaid Hat sale, and they've been played more than any single game since. I have two non-gaming friends that bought the game right after I taught them to play, and I can play a game with any of my 3 older kids, or during lunch within 20-30 minutes. I really like it.

My biggest worry is with so many faction decks coming out, there may be some runaway winners and losers. I hope there's been plenty of testing and the decks stay balanced.

summoner wars Master Set has been delayed until October. i'm still going to get this, but cancelling my pre-order with CSI for now.

Not for those who bought one of the few copies at GenCon. I'll enjoy my copy extra for you. :)
