Across Arkham, strange doors to other worlds have been opening. They seem to be a living part of an ancient and arcane creature that has been reaching out, tempting the unwary with eldritch power. Now people are vanishing without a trace and it’s up to a handful of bold investigators to confront the profane being who dwells just beyond these passages. But even working together, will they be able to destroy these unnatural and deadly gates without themselves striking a terrible bargain with the Lurker at the Threshold? This expansion for the Arkham Horror board game comes complete with one Herald Sheet, 18 new Gate markers, 110 new Ancient One cards, and 56 new Investigator cards, including new items, new spells, Relationship cards, and horrific Dark Pacts made with the powers from beyond.

Been thinking about getting a small box expansion, maybe I'll wait for this one. I mean, jesus, BGG says I played AH 13 times last month!!!

I hope it's out in time for Mother's Day, but it probably won't be. Playing Arkham with a new expansion would be an excellent way to spend the day, but it will never happen. I'll get a plant and get taken to lunch with my mother in law.

Also, quick fire answer: first small box expansion to get? I have Dunwich.

I'd opt for the King in Yellow over Dark Pharaoh, and though I own Black Goat I haven't had a chance to play it yet.

I found Black Goat to be the least interesting of the small box expansions. You can join the Cult of the Black Goat, but it works like getting a Silver Twilight Lodge membership - maybe you pull a card that let's you join and maybe you don't. Then you have to go back to certain locations to have a Black Goat encounter - so maybe you go to one of those locations during the course of the game after you join the cult, but maybe you don't. Also, the location and Gate cards mostly just throw more monsters on the table. If you like fighting lots of monsters that's good, but if prefer the more narrative adventure encounters, it's not so good.

Dark Pharaoh adds more spells, items, encounters, mythos cards, etc to the game without changing it much at all. I like this expansion, because the encounters, items, etc are tied together in a thematic way.

King in Yellow adds another timer to the game, and makes it a bit more difficult. However, if you shuffle the King in Yellow expansion Mythos cards in with a bunch of other expansions, the timer tends not to be much of a threat.

Black Goat is the most vicious herald in the game. Play with it, and you get a lot more Dark Young running around. What's that? Dark Young don't move? They do when you play with the Black Goat herald. And normally corruption cards rarely make an appearance in the game, but with Black Goat, there will be plenty of corruption. And finally, those moving Dark Young plus the Dark Druid really increase the chance that the Dunwich Horror will show up, if you're playing with that board.

I like King In Yellow for the herald, because it actually makes the terror track a little bit terrifying.

Gary you're really doing the Arkham thing the right way. Play the base game a whole bunch of times, than add Dunwich play that a bunch of times than add something else. King in Yellow is the best of the small boxes.
