Sails of Glory, will recreate naval warfare in the Age of Sail (1650-1815). The Wings of Glory game system will be modified and expanded to represent accurately battles at sea between the large sailing ships of the past centuries.

Created by Andrea Angiolino and Andrea Mainini, Sails of Glory will merge miniatures, cards and boardgame mechanics, using the same intuitive system of Wings of Glory, which features a special deck of maneuver cards to represent the different movement capabilities of each model. The game will be supported by a range of painted and assembled 1:1200 miniatures.

The first series of Sails of Glory, scheduled to be released in Summer 2012, will be set in the Napoleonic Age.

Ok, this gets my attention. I love naval minis games but one generally needs a warehouse floor to play them. Something more "normal table-sized" without needing to paint stuff would be most welcome

Agreed. This most definitely pertains to my interests.

I'm so looking forward to this!

I've been watching this for awhile and the information on the navigation of the ships is still very sketchy. Multiple gun decks, battery firing . . . that stuff sounds very good. But the nav is going to make a big difference in the game. Historically ship control of this era was pretty brutal. They're going to need to make a decent compromise between reality and excitement.

If this a small box base game that's selling for $25 - 30 like Wings of War it's an autobuy for me.

The only problem is that I also have X-Wing on my watch list.

Well Andrea? How much is it going to be in the U.S. Don't pretend you're not reading this.

I will definitely pick this game up. I'm guessing the rules will be fairly simple and it will look great on the table. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, put me on the interested list. Pre-painted minis is a huge plus for me. Can't wait to see some more pictures of this.

Ha ha! Yes, let's just wait for FFG to rip it off in a year or two!

You know, I never really thought about it in those terms because I tended to play "age of steam/coal/diesel/atom" stuff, but that's pretty spot-on. In a lot of ways, "age of sail" can be more of a "race game" than any sort of skirmish game. "3M's Regatta with Guns" could be fun but certainly not in the All That And A Bag of Chips category. Keep us posted on how you think the dev is working out...
