So yeah, EPIC MICKEY looks pretty great. I sat in on a conference call/moderated interview with Warren Spector and the report is at Gameshark.com. Oh, and I also reviewed BLOOD DRIVE. Unfortunately.

Yeah, it's a real downer. It reminds me of a mid- to late- 1990s PSX game, back when publishers were sort of transitioning between the more kid-oriented market and the "mature" games market. There were all of these really immature, crude games that came out (or didn't- see THRILL KILL) and that was the era that brought us the fabled "John Romero wants to make you his bitch" ad. This game feels like it could easily have existed then. With only a slight graphics downgrade.
GHOST RECON WII is actually _worse_. It will probably be my vote for worst of the year.
That's comedy right there. Thanks for the laughs!
I played Epic Mickey at NYCC and totally forgot to write about it. It seemed like a mechanically competent 3d platformer ala Mario, but it didn't have the incredible level of control or interesting level design that you find in the Mario Galaxy. Granted, I didn't play too deeply into it so it could get a lot better with that. The story, art direction and overall vibe is awesome though. I especially like the moral choices you have, very similar to harvesting little sisters or saving them, only you're Mickey Mouse straight up murdering dudes for their goodies.
So all in all, I'm really excited to play the full game since the mechanical stuff seems good enough to not get in the way even if it doesn't wow me, and all the other stuff is really interesting and well done.
I played Blood Drive... once.>:(
