So it's another Barnes doubleheader over at Gameshark.com this week. Come join me and be dubbed the Godslayer.
First, it's the review of ASCENSION. It ain't half bad. I don't think it's a must own or anything like that, but I've kind of dug its simplicity and ease of play. It's surprisingly casual and it's a good one to play when you're undeer a couple of drinks- not much long term planning or process to get muddled up in. It's pretty shallow though, which is surprising since it's designed by a bunch of MAGIC dudes. If they put this in a double card box and sold it for $20, I'd definitely suggest it as a light game. But it's $40, in a box about ten times too big for it. And seriously, a golf pencil and a pad is easier to deal with than a bunch of plastic gems that are supposed to represent honor. WTF?
Second is a review of the Wii game GORMITI: THE LORDS OF NATURE. Ever heard of it? Apparently it's a big cartoon in Italy. I had no idea what it was, I thought it was going to be some kind of card battler but it's sort of a brawler for kids. It's pretty dumb, but if you have a young one that you can play it with it might be fun for them.

Things I like about Ascension vs. Dominion. Quick setup and not a programmed strategy that dominion players fall into a rut with.
