Super Gay Wedding! Hot

On Wednesday (June 20th) I did a gay super hero wedding in NYC. It was pretty awesome.

In Astonishing X-Men #51, Northstar marries his totally non-mutant non-heroic yet also totally gay boyfriend and so on the day the issue released, Marvel and Midtown Comics did a promotion where a couple won a wedding at the store (and a reception at a swank hotel and other fun stuff). Scott and Jason were stoked and so was I for the opportunity to be a part of it.

I also got totally drunk and sang karaoke with Jay in Brooklyn the night before. Good times.

That's awesome, Matt. I must say, you look totally different when you're not in Miss tank tops.

Super Hero Gay Wedding...I'm not even sure how you advertise for that? ;)

And as my Ma always said to my sister, "would it have killed you to put on a little lipstick?"

I think it's awesome that he's officiating a wedding without wearing any socks.

Could have at least painted his ankles to the same colour as his pants

    My look was fresh. Haters.

are those gold-plated buttons? At least you didn't offer either of the grooms something reasonable or tempting to go for instead. That was nice of you.

Dead up, did a wedding Friday for this young couple. They wanted to get married in the heavy rain that was coming down and I don't care so we did it. Then I was soaking wet and since we were done and it was a really casual wedding I took my shirt off. Bride looks at me says" Wow, if I didn't just get married I'd fuck you."

Then she tried to pay me extra and her dude made her put the money away.

So is this a side-business you've started up? I don't recall anyone referring to you as Reverend at WBC.

    S.

I've been a CT Justice of the Peace for like 7 years. Done maybe 700-800 weddings at this point? I do a lot, it's been my main source of income for a while now despite it taking up a lot less of my time than the other jobs I have.

I can technically be called "the honorable" or referred to as "your honor".

I do also have the internet minister thing so that I can do weddings in some other states (mostly just NYC) but that's really just a paperwork thing.

So did CBS crop off every one's feet in their photo because you wren't wearing socks?

Marvel were so close to being very progressive on the whole gay superhero thing, as they nearly outed Northstar very early on (even though I missed the obvious references when reading Alpha Flight in the 80's). The most amusing thing was that at the point when they were about to reveal he was gay and had AIDS, they backtracked at the last minute and wrote that he was a fairy (I don't know if the irony was intended there) whose body was suffering from being on earth and not in the fairy realm.

Oddly enough, Northstar's twin sister was apparently not a "fairy."

Matt, you need to eat a cookie. Or drink some beer.

  • avatar433

Are you reading the vows from an iPad?

    Now THAT would be progressive!

  • avatarMattLoter

I am indeed reading from an iPad.

Also, I drink PLENTY of beer. We were all pretty tall so I think I look skinnier than I actually am. At over 200lbs I'm not exactly a little dude.
