How has this movie not even made $90 million yet? Is it the length? I am so happy I didn't miss the chance to see this in theatres. I think my biggest takeaway is how surprisingly affecting it was. I couldn't get enough of the scenes between K (Gosling) and Joi (great supporting performance by Ana de Armas). The 2nd scene in the movie felt like almost 20 minutes of just setting this up, and at the time i found it surprising to spend this much screentime on developing this sub-plot, but it sure paid...

Wow. Where did this come from? I honestly walked into this thinking this was an early biopic of Lady Bird Johnson. Last year around this time, i cluelessly walked into Moonlight expecting something completely different as well. I think this must be the very best way to walk into a movie because this is twice that i've been totally blown away. It's similar in some ways to last year's Edge of Seventeen except instead of just supplying the ups, this one also gets into the downs really effectively. In fact, depression is explored on many...

More family-appropriate than Passion of the Christ. I really wanted to take 6-year old Emily to see Wonder but she saw a preview of The Star and really wanted to see this instead. A lot of my childhood had a large amount of catholic indoctrination media (mostly audio cassettes) so I was weary to expose her to anything that could be dripping with the Jesus juice. This movie was not that, it was a really fun and a nice adventure of basically all the animals that end up in the manger where someone of great significance...

The best expansions don't just improve or fix their base games, they let you see them in a new light. That's what I was hoping from the racing seasons in this Racing Season expansion for Automobiles. Its parent title has been my sleeper hit for the past two years. While other games have peaked and gone, Automobiles is still lapping round for regular plays. It might not need the fresh coat of an expansion, but some go-faster stripes would be nice. There's something very beguiling about season-based games. The idea of taking your carefully built bag...

When Zombology came out of the packet, I thought it might have taken a knock in the post. There's no shrinkwrap, the box lid is a poor fit and all the cards spill everywhere when you take it off. Then I realised: when the designer told me this was "hand made", he meant it literally. He cut and assembled every component by hand, and that makes it an instant treasure. Beyond the box, this is an impressive piece of production for a hand-cut game. My wife, a graphic designer who has only a passing interest in...
