Custom Dice

There Will Be Games

These came in the post yesterday. I've been playing a lot of Commands & Colours recently, and I got fed up with the lightweight, sticker-faced dice that come with the games and was casting around for an alternative.

Someone suggested that I have a custom set made, something that I had assumed would be a time-consuming and expensive process. But then they pointed me at UK company Warbases.

Warbases will take your scans and scribbles, add a little design flourish and turn them into dice face silhouettes for you. They'll cut a test dice and send you a photo to check you're happy with it. They offer dice in a variety of colours, and will ink in the faces in a different variety of colours. Now I've seen companies offering standard six-sided dice with the one or the six replaced with a  symbol you can choose from a selection but this is customised designs, of your choice, on every face.

And the cost. One English pound per dice. One pound. A mere fraction more than you'd pay for a pre-made custom dice.

Even up to the point where they arrived I was still thinking this was all too good to be true. And to be completely honest the lines on a couple of the faces are very slightly pixellated, and the ink fill is very slightly patchy. But these are tiny, minor issues you might see on any set of custom dice, and I'm completely delighted with them. So delighted that I felt compelled you let you all know that this excellent - and very reasonably priced - service is out there.

And yes, for a smidgen extra, they will post to the US.
