If anyone is interested in the first 8 books or so of the Walking Dead, shoot me a message. I'm willing to deal.
"This is a little segment we like to call, Ch-ch-ch-CHOOOIN' THE FAAA--" "Stop that"
Liked the ASCENDING EMPIRES discussion, have gone from never heard of it to interested.
The SHARDS discussion might have been too detailed. TI:3E might merit a Very Special Episode. In depth discussions of an expansion have a place, but maybe not as the second topic of the podcast. I think you should roll anecdotes into discussions. Like Josh saying, "Oh shit, I forgot my mercenaries could do that," would lead to a discussion of that kind of thing happening all the time.
This happened more and more as the episode went on. The Green Lantern stuff was great. Awesome job!
Normally I can't stand podcasts because they are too slow and rambling. I normally need to increase the speed to the point where people sound like chipmunks. And still I'm usually bored.
But you guys kept things moving at a steady clip: you spoke at a perfect pace, you made your points and then didn't delay moving on to the next topic or point. And you both speak well. As a result I not only listened to the whole thing, I quite liked it and had a few laughs. It's great to hear your voices BTW. Keep it up!
Congrats on perfecting the word fuck. :)
You should hear the unedited raw edition. I insult way more people and say fuck a whole lot more.
Also, fun production note that unlike most podcasts, we actually record in the same room with each other. Bottle of Tequila on the table between us.
And HUGE ups to engineer Al without whom everything would sound terrible if it ever even got recorded at all. Me and Josh just ramble like idiots, Al and Uba make the magic happen!
Thanks Matt. It's been nothing but fun on my part, especially since we got to play both Ascending Empires AND Quarriors! Can't wait to record the next episode.
Oooo Charles. Was he sleek like a horse?
Great job! great sound, and fun to listen to. My only suggestion: More HoneyBadger!

If you don't love the Fat:cast your a fuck'n moron but the 2 guys from Connecticut doing the FAT:cast are total idiots.
I love the accessibility of this podcast so far. If this is the editing, keep it up Al!
Too many podcasters focus a large portion of time on themselves and what they are doing. A couple minutes on a Wendy's story is fine, but any more time could be considered self-indulgent. Sorry Messy Game Room dudes and Point to Point.
This first podcast reminds me of sitting around the table at ConnConn or Trashfest South listening to guys talk about culture I know little about and I am interested in. Only without my own awkwardness because I don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
Again, great job. You might actually get me to go out and read the Walking Dead or check out some more movies I hadn't heard of before your podcast.
Technically I think pete is Ranked #2 in TI3. Tied with myself and Joe Harrison for the most laurels earned in it at the WBC.
and you will, eventually see that the guys in MD are right on politics in TI3. I don't understand how you think that silly rock paper scissor thing make for more above the table negotiations, it doesn't it just adds a waste of time mini game to the middle of a round in TI3.
Beyblades is worth it.

As far as Battlin Tops goes, I am OLD SCHOOL. The new mini arena is cheap ass. I loved the old 60's "mega arena". Those old Battlin Tops games ran over 100 bucks on ebay last I saw.
Beyblades always looked awesome to me. I may have to get some and annoy my wife and the cats with em.
They had about 100 copies of "Battlin Tops" at a local discount store. I just wish I can remember where it was. I didn't really pay much heed to it...maybe the wife will remember.
I'll see if I can find it, buy a copy, and then post a pic to make sure it's the right one.
I disagree with Sag: No announcer, no goofy country music, nothing to break up the flow of the conversation. It is fine the way it is.
Ummm... Sag how could you have missed the sexy female announcer at the beginning?
I can't seem to get past that voice in order to listen to the actual podcast.
I'm hoping other listeners feel the same way; that they are at the table, and Matt and Josh are talking with them. I do, but I've actually experienced sitting on the porch listening to them talk. We'll be playing a game, decide to take a quick bathroom/smoke break, and the next thing you know the whole group is on the porch and a half hour or forty-five minutes has gone by without anyone realizing it.
Absolutely the feel I got from the podcast, and what sets it apart. Felt like it could've been me and my buddies shooting the bull in the basement - enough colorful language, opinions, in jokes to make it entertaining with new information that helps make it interesting.
Again, awesome job and cant wait for the next one!

Wow, Matt Loter speaking is something other than a rambling, nonsensical, drunken slur as he talks about games (or attempts to teach one). I am shocked.
And don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that in the cute "Oh that rascal, when will he learn" indulgent way. Matt Loter, I owe you a swift kick in the dick with the three step running start option and someday...I'm gonna deliver.
I liked the podcast but broadcasting is like comedy. Overuse of profanity doesn't make you better. It takes a bit of concentration to break the "every other word is fuck" habit (lord knows I'm the worst offender) but your show will be better if you only use it when you REALLY want to emphasize something.
First, fun podcast to listen too. I liked the movie commentary about the abortion that was Green Lantern. What a piece!
You really piqued my interest in the TI3 expansion. I also think that the politics part is what seems to set it apart. I like the negotiation, deal making and breaking. It's a blast!
Whichever of you said that if you have kids their idiots, fuck you! I'm throwin' it down. My 7 year old will totally hose you in the Resistance or any other number of games, let alone my girls who will charm you while they twist the knife baby!! Ask Stormseeker, he knows! We'll play you at the WBC if you want to man up with kids and get schooled!
Seriously though, as I teacher, I see all kinds of kids, and I can tell you this, if kids have parents who are involved in their lives and don't just treat them like their little freakin' trophies or lapdogs to show off when the company comes, kids are OK. I also know for a fact that my kids have benefited enormously from playing games. It's quality time together that we all enjoy. Their attention span is awesome, their ability to consider, plan and make decisions is clearly better than other kids I run across. All kids are not idiots jagass! (imagine the voice of the guy from Happy Gilmore saying that last line).
Keep up the good work. I like the informal format. I also appreciate that you gave a warning about language at the beginning so I knew to keep my kids out of the room while I was listening. I look forward to the next episode!
That thing about kids being idiots was a joke. We know kids aren't idiots. What adults churn out for them to watch these days, educational or otherwise, suggests otherwise.
Kids are idiots. They will will fall asleep with an open box of Lucky Charms in their bed, and then sleep in that shit until laundry day, or an adult notices pink hearts and green clovers stuck in their hair, or a raccoon breaks in through the screen for a snack, which ever comes first. I'm surprised how many kids manage live to adulthood.
As a fellow teacher, I can't see how you don't think kids are idiots. We're only teachers cause we hate kids and want summers off right? Seriously though, it's parents that are bunch of fuck ups.
A game like the Resistance meh, but I'll make your kids cry if we play Diplomacy. I'd totally be down for a killer game of Pretty Pretty Princess with the kids!

So I guess we must have met sometime then eh?
Also, fuck fuck fuck.
I totally agree. What I hate most about all these Alvin and the Chipmunks, Smurfs, and whatever else bullshit is what the studio execs/producers must assume about my kids' intelligence. Or mine, for that matter.
That is total bollocks from someone who clearly doesn't have the first idea about swearing. Profanity is part of language, you jackass!
If I want advice from a half assed preacher about my language, I'll be sure to pop into a mosque/church/synagogue, until then, if you don't like it, don't listen to it but don't try to bury some moralistic bullshit into literary criticism.
Oh Andy, take your indignation and shove it. It was not a moralistic criticism. It was regarding broadcasting and a helpful tip to make their show a little better.
I swear as much or more than most so I'm not "offended" by it.
"Someone who doesn't have the first idea about swearing"? My first idea about the overuse of the word "fuck" is that it's a habit and most people who over use it don't even really realize it. My second idea is it is indicative of linguistic laziness or lack of vocabulary.
Lastly, nobody is talking about your language Andy. You are not putting up a podcast and thus your language use is of no concern.
I've never played that one, sounds good! They MAY be a little young for Diplomacy :) It would be fun though to see my oldest daughter sweetly negotiate a peaceful border with you to allow you to focus on the east, then attack you viciously from the west. Hmmmmm Maybe in a few years. Patience...... In all seriousness, the kids are always up for learning something new. I'll touch base with you at the WBC!
I enjoy most kids games more than most Euros so I'm totally down to play some silly stuff with the kids.
Great fun, but long for my taste. I don't know about you guys, but is it easy to listen to over an hour of talk, unless your on public transport or in your car?
I'd prefer if this were two episodes.
Great episode, and kudos for showing some love to Troika. Their games were incredible, buggy works of art. Arcanum is my second favorite RPG, after Fallout 2, and both games share some talent.
I think I prefer Fallout 1, and I'm interested as to why you say 2. It seemed with 2 you actually had less freedom in your character creation than in the first one. Given that you don't get a gun for awhile and that you face a ton of traps early on, not taking Unarmed/Melee and Traps was too severely punishing to not take them. Plus, I think some of the stuff that they added to make the game "bigger" is sort of useless, like the car. I've played the game all the way through 3 times, never needed the car.
But yeah, Arcanum rocks.
This could be insanely great or bite ass. I hope Matt krav maga's someone over the phone.
