What did you learn from the "The Group of Ten" article?

I enjoyed reviewing these top ten game lists. I learned that I have too many games that I don't play, that I need to reduce my collection, and that Wiz-War appears on many of the lists so I need to acquire it since I've never tried it. What did you learn from reviewing the various lists?

Similarly, I have too many games that I don't play anymore.

"Collections" seem to be a manner of skirting the group of ten. I keep Heroscape, but my Heroscape is complete, exhaustive, and huge. Four big containers. I keep DreadBall, but it's every team and multiple pitches. Arkham Horror? I have a ton of stuff (and I didn't even keep that on my group of ten).

I volunteered my collection of "curio" games. I'll still be keeping those...

I need to play Cosmic Encounter. I'm buying a copy and Cosmic Incursion off of a buddy.

I want to try Blue Legends.

I own Red November and Earth Reborn. They have never reached my table. I should correct this.

Stoic ~ get Wiz-War. You'll dig it.

Drewcula,

I've been eyeing Blue Moon Legends too--it's a good game. If you want to try it for free, then check out this digital version so you can see if you'd enjoy it.

Regarding Earth Reborn, it's an awesome game, but, I don't like constructing (or piecing together the game board). However, I've heard that you can download screenshots of the assembled scenarios/game boards, print them out, and use them. I need to play it more too!

I bought Earth Reborn for a song back in the day of great Tanga sales. I painted the minis, and read the book. I was ready to rock, then life intervened: Home reno, marriage, Risk Legacy... I need to pry one of my DreadBall league buddies to commit for the long haul. Ten scenarios to learn the rules may be prudent, but it's a tall order for suckers stuck in middle management.

I need to go back through people's lists, but I don't recall many Mage Knight: The Board Game mentions. Am I wrong?
[edit: Ha! It was on your list! Mage Knight needs to see my table more often before declaring it's a forever ever game]

i felt people had good tastes in games generally. I don't think there was a single list with no really great games on it, and some of them had 10 really great games. Lots of love for Spacehulk and lots for Settlers. Also a good spread of games from different years. Very few from the past 2 years but then a lot from the 2008-2012 period and quite a few 90s and 80s games with some even older.

Play it and throw everything else away. It's why Christophe Boelinger was put on this Earth.

I learned that the Group of Ten, or G10, isn't a grouping of the ten strongest developed countries but something infinitely less important.

Not a lot but I do the 10/25 game list regularly. It's a deplorable habit and the end result looks like a variant of Bull's list. People's priorities, as should be obvious from the nature of the site, seem to be variety and social interaction, whether trading, negotiating, trashtalking or just shooting the breeze.

The game it reminded me I should try is Lords of Vegas for a mix of trading, trash talking, and gambling and some light euro action. I'm worried about the length of the game.

Sounds like it achieved its purpose of making people aware of games they don't have that they now need to own!

Absolutely check this out, it's like Settlers with no rules. I love it. It doesn't take long, depending on how much time is spent trading maybe 90-120.

As retaliation towards cult of the new, I'm glad to be a long standing member of the cult of the few.

I learned that Nate is a traitor to Wiz-War. But he made an excellent choice for its place, none the less.

I learned you all like Acquire A LOT. I had no idea it was so popular around here.
