Supernova? was created by Sagrilarus
I got a copy of Supernova for my birthday last year, a game my buddy got me at auction on the cheap. I finally cracked it open and read the rules this evening.
There's revised rules and I can see why. But, it seems well liked by those that took the time to learn it and it appears to be pretty in-your-face gaming.
Has anyone played it?

The short game can be described as a knife fight in phone booth that happens to have flares in it.
Ok. I just wanted an excuse to use the cliche. But seriously.... Play the short game.... If that makes you super horny you could try the longer version... But I doubt you will ove it that much. The short game forces conflict and still take 90 mins. Win-win

Great answer, thanks.
I like games that take a little time to develop, but the short game may be long enough to do that. I'll likely play the short first just to get my feet wet.
Looks like a game for the May event.

Played it years ago, but from what I can remember of it, the rules were poorly written, and several situations were explained a bit ambiguous.. The battle system and the technology tree was not very interesting. The short game was the way to go, only because the long game was fairly boring. It was an OK 4X game, but nothing spectacular. I didn't end up buying a copy.

Dumb question. I know what kind of game to which the term 4x refers..... But what is the origin of using 4x as shorthand.... What does 4x mean?
Thanks in advance.
