So, I've been following Bad Crow and they launched the KS for Armored Core RTS today:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/223137030/a...-strategy-board-game

I ~LOVE~ Escape, and I ~Love~ Space Alert. But, Escape Zombie City is weak as shit, and the IDEA of Zombie 15' is good but the long setup killed it for me in a huge way.

So, I'm definitely getting Armored Core (I've bought 2 PS's for the game specifically) as I'm a super fan but what other RT games are good? I hated Jab, like DESPISED it, but Jungle Speed is awesome fun as is Spot It, with the kids. Subutteo is wicked awesome.

Any RT games out there I need to check out?

I don't get it because the Armored Core board game really isn't a real-time game is it? It says your speed/reflexes won't matter.

So is it like everyone takes one action, then everyone takes one more action?

I think Sidibaba is perhaps the coolest real-time game out there.

Are we allowed to like GALAXY TRUCKER here? Someone check in with Josh Look, I forget. But that has a great RT component as you build your jank-ass ship.

Now that folks have accumulated iOS devices, you should put SPACETEAM on all of them. It uses NFC to connect them together and you have never had so much fun telling your kids to "frog-blast the ventcores" as they madly try to tell you about the incoming asteroid.

One of the best RT card games is TWITCH--it's a Richard Garfield game that goes in and out of print, but you could home brew one pretty easily. The gameplay is literally "deal a card into a bowl" but the magic is you don't know whose turn it is until the next card goes into the bowl. If you figure it out before the player does, you can toss in a blame card of their color and make them take the pile.

As a kid, I enjoyed playing Pit at family get-togethers. We often had 6 or 7 players, and it got noisy.

Jab is really good.

The classics are Blink, Brawl, and I'm The Boss.

Oh, and Wheedle is a nice variation of Pit.

I don't like real-time games on the computer (I could never play Star/WarCraft) and am not crazy about them as board games. I've come to hate games like Space Cadets: Dice Duel, Escape, or any other game where you just roll dice over and over again and yell.

However, I do love Spaceteam for some reason.

I didn't like Escape either: you're just concentrating on rolling, rolling, re-rolling and re-rolling your dice some more until you get a positive outcome, not paying any attention to what the others are doing or really what's happening in general.

I do like Galaxy Trucker even if I mostly suck at it. Some refuse to play it with my brother because he dominates the game. One of the expansions adds boosts for inexperienced players and penalties for experienced ones, but still.

That other space game with a cd from Chvatil is pretty fun too, but we never tried the campaign play unfortunately. Space Alert! That's it.

Also, you should avoid playing Jungle Speed with the clawed folks.

A better fix: your brother builds two ships at the same time and you pick which one he pilots after that phase.
