Going to buy a game in one hour....

I have decided to go buy a game at lunchtime. Which one should I get? Make some votes!

- Runewars (probably wont be their yet)
- Claustrophobia (do I need another dungeon crawl)
- Ghost Stories (not sure this has enough theme)
- Descent: seas of blood (not in the mood for this one - am I losing my love of all things descent?!?)

Help me pick!

What if its not there?
The reality is its between claustro and ghost stories. Or maybe something I haven't thought of.

If Runewars is there you are getting it.

I am not particularly interested in the others mentioned, so I cannot comment on them. My next game purchases will probably be Road to Legend and Condottiere.

Between Ghost Stories and Claustrophobia?

I haven't played the latter (I'd like to, but appears damn expensive for what it is), but Ghost Stories is pretty lousy if you ask me. Oh, it's not a bad game, really, but it's crazy abstract, and uses all these language-independent symbols to suck pretty much any theme there might be right out of the game.

I remember fighting a ghost with a bowl of noodles in it once, and thinking that activity should have been really fun in an absurd way, but it just wasn't.

I like Ghost Stories, but I wouldn't recommend it to you. It plays like a $10 download for the DS. In fact, it would be a better as a solo DS game.

Sea of Blood is actually pretty good if you like to play the short one-hour dungeons. It has new skills and stuff, and you can even do ship versus ship battles or Kraken versus ship battles with tentacles and shit.

Runewars!

Runewars!

My secondary vote goes to Pocket Battles: Celts vs. Romans.

Well, Ghost Stories is a good game, but not exactly filled with theme. It's exciting and tense enough, and I like the way combat works (love dice). It's got a nice push your luck element in that you can choose between going for a safer roll at the cost of more resources or risk it and end up better off if you succeed. The game throws this situations on the board you have to solve, kind of like small puzzles, before you finish handling one, there's another one you have to deal with, so you always feel your hands are full and that you're running out of time.

But as I said, it's pretty abstract and very puzzle-like and not so much an "experience" game. It's also fast-paced and plays in a short time. I mostly play it with my son (not so much now) and he likes it, but it doesn't get much play with my gf and main gaming partner because we usually would rather spend our little gaming time playing something longer and more thematic.

It can also be pretty challenging, but if you don't mind losing a few games until everything starts to click into place, that's ok...
