One has a more detailed castle containing some tall towers and an entry bridge along the left side of the box cover.

The other is a much less detailed castle without tall towers and an entry bridge along the right side of the box cover.

Anyone know what these covers mean? Different printings? Game still the same?

Jeff, my box is the 1979 Avalon Hill Edition and it's the first one you describe. A detailed castle with pointed towers and a stone bridge on the bottom left with a fang baring dragon approaching the castle top right.

Not sure what the other one is, but the first one's is definitely the game.

EDIT: just been on the Geek Jeff where I see you started a similar thread and the conversation there prompted me to look at the rule set in my box. It's Third Edition (1980) and I just noticed that one of the designers is Magic Realm creator Richard Hamblen which is kinda cool.

Posted this on BGG as well, but does anyone know if there's an online copy of the Dragon Pass rulebook? Or do you have an electronic copy scanned?

Thanks!

I don't believe there's a scanned copy anywhere. I tried to do it myself once, but gave up after a few pages - it's a substantial document to scan in manually.

I've got a copy of the game, rules and all, but was hoping to find an electronic one to send to a buddy to read up so we can play this next month at a local convention.

Perhaps, I'll try to scan this sucker in for him.

Thanks!
