The Anakin track is similar to the Ringbearer progression track, the Jedi are like getting Aragorn to the right places to play those big muster cards (if I remember correctly), and in both you're juggling a million things at once. I did like War of the Ring better, though, just because the "rolling one die at a time 5 times in a row" thing in SWQG drove me nuts.

I've always considered them sisters to each other, and they are both in my top 10 games, no question.

I thought about listing "Ken" as something else they had in common.

I like War of the Ring overall but I never liked the luck element in the tile draws. If the fellowship draws bad tiles they are screwed no matter what.

I don't understand how that's different from any other complaint about luck in a game; if you rarely roll 5s and 6s you're also screwed...but that's pretty much just part of *any* game involving luck, unless different results are just different instead of better/worse, but then you lose so much in excitement...

Hmm... not sure what version you're playing. Excluding special tiles, there's 19 printed corruption in the bag, plus whatever the eyes happen to deal, which is usually 0 prior to the fellowship entering mordor, unless they're really hauling ass, in which case they should expect to get hit with a lot of corruption.

12 corruption on the track, plus 14 corruption worth of companions to kill means that the fellowship player would have to get spectacularly unlucky to get killed by corruption because of bad luck.

You mitigate the luck of the bag by adjusting how you play. I have never seen the bag unmitigatedly screw someone.

I don't know, I only played 3 games, it just seemed too much came down to the luck of the tile draws. I know luck is a factor in all these games, it just bothered me more in this one, and it just felt anticlimactic when you died from some bad tile draws.
