Eclipse on iOS

I don't think I've gotten any invites, and I can't see any way to join a named game. So have tried to set up a 3-player - everyone on my GC list got an invite. Get in there while there's space!

Mads and Casey, we'll need to bail on our current game and restart... There is a bug with the Planta that can crash the game every time when they try to explore. I'm currently stuck in that and can't get past it. Let's restart and nobody pick Planta.

Plasma missiles are still bullshit. I've got two -2 shields on my ships versus computer's 3 plasma missiles and two +2 computers. I survive the opening volley! You are so dead computer! What!? You get to retreat after launching your payload and I don't even get ONE shot in return? BULLSHIT.

I think what you're seeing is that when the opponent only has missiles and they don't completely defeat you, it's an automatic win for you but the game doesn't play it out... I was confused by that, too.

You sure? The animation makes it look like a retreat.

The AI will often fill its dreadnaughts with only missiles, and missiles can only be used before the first round of combat, so if they don't kill you with those and you have some normal firepower, you're guaranteed to win at that point. They should have some kind of graphic or text that clarifies that, because it does seem like it suddenly ends as if they retreated, but if you look, their ships should be gone and yours remaining in the hex. This is assuming that's the case, but it sounds like it...

Now it's even more enticing as a way to try it out, but seeing as the iPad is my wife's, and I never play the games I have on it that I actually like, I'm still not sure it would be a wise purchase. Decisions decisions.
