Let's Talk Small Dice Games

Another question pertaining to the Casual Players Club. Oftentimes, they like to meet up in a bar, where we usually play Condottiere or Citadels.

I saw someone mention Age of War in the 'What Games...' thread and it got me thinking that it may be a fun little game to play in a bar setting.

I also know that Bang! has a dice game edition.

Are either of these any good? Any other suggestions?

(Likely, if I were to get one of these games, I'd just give it to someone in the group so we'd have to play. Not sure I need any of these games myself.)

Bang! The Dice Game is alright. It's basically bluffing but there is more room for comedy than in something like Coup.

I have Martian Dice and Dragon Slayer, both of which are basically shite. My favourite small dice game is Würfel Bohnanza, purely because I'm a hipster. Actually, because the game decisions are less around the dice-rolling and more around when you cash-in. Bad lighting would kill the game, though as the dice are white and bone so it might be harder to distinguish. Qwixx was alright, but you have to get pens and that's a hassle.

Las Vegas is pretty decent and goes well with a few beers and some real money. Also Decathlon is a great (and free) pub dice game. I was always quite fond of Roma but I dont know how well my like for that will have aged. Thats also just 2P whereas Decathlon and LV are multiplayer and lend themselves to group competition atmosphere. LV can easily be homebrewed for nothing using poker chips and dice.
Isnt Cant Stop a dice game?

Quantum is the one I heard a lot of buzz about but I have not played it or followed up on it really

Street Soccer is awesome by the way but its only rolling one die :)

Las Vegas is awesome. Very simple, you can teach anyone. I think you could turn it into a gambling game with no issues at all.

Age of War is Risk Express. It's fine for 2 but probably better with more. I've never played it with more.

Sushizock im Gocklewock or Pickomino are also great choices.

Ra: The Dice Game is king shit of fuck mountain when it comes to dice games. Unfortunately it is OOP and expensive.

I'll let you know if I come up with any more good ones.

Las Vegas is awesome. Age of war is boring.

I love Ra: TDG. It's not really a pub game tho. Neither is Quantum, which I've played twice now and am intrigued by.

I have Scripts and Scribes the Dice Game, which is being redone, and I don't remember much about it.

Pandemic: The Cure is smallish. Could probably be played in a bar. I really like it a bunch and should do a full-blown review of it.

I also like A Fistful of Penguins, which is a push-your-luck dice game. It's small and portable (pretty much just dice and point chips).

It's not a dice game but perfect for a pub environment - Skulls (previously Skull and Roses). A bluffing game whose components is a small stacks of coasters each player receives. It's direct, push your luck bluffing where you ride the edge and try not to get burned. There's some nice strategy in trying to douse your opponents in flames and lead them off the cliff on their own accord.

Maybe I should have titled this thread 'Pub Games'.

Sure there are straight dice games like cee-lo, but for some nutty reason I thinking of games with an attempt at some setting.

However, that Skulls game looks perfect! I'll see if there's a copy at one of the LGS.

I like Martian Dice for a family game and we play it fairly often. I ~really~ like Zombie Dice .

How about Zombie Dice or Farkle? I usually make up sets of dice from the Dollar Store and put them in ziplock bags to create generic Farkle sets whereby I give them to scouts at Summer Camp. I see them playing it quite often. At pubs, I used to like Liar's Dice too.

I also like Martian Dice. It's dumb but fun.

And Pairs is a great pub game. It and Cockroach Poker. Use them to determine who has to pay for the next round, since there's only a single loser.

Mr. White,

This seems like a dice game within your interest area: Luchador! Mexican Wrestling Dice 2.0.

Superfly TNT,

Frankly, I dig the theme of this game! I'd order Luchador! Mexican Wrestling Dice 2.0 right now if shipping wasn't so much from the UK to the USA or if there was a US distributor. It's $84.54 with the wooden wrestler meeples with shipping!

I read about the weaknesses of Luchador's first version, but, this second version corrected a few things and it includes the addition of special signature moves for the wrestlers. I also like the 3D "squared-circle" in this second edition.

Anyone actually get to play this one yet?
