Maybe someone will contact GW anyway to see whether they are fine with it or not? The fact they don't speak perfect English, doesn't automatically mean they are morons.

Yes, an established company that displays a huge banner across their site that advertises the fact that they most frequently asked question they've received since 2002 is "Are you still in business?" Yeah, really builds my confidence.

FOR THE RECORD, Gamezone makes brilliant product:
www.gamezoneminiatures.com/tienda/en/

...but they have zero web savvy. Their about us page is completely blank...which I'm sure makes anyone who is researching them feel like this is a fast money-grab scheme by some "damn fer'ners". The fact is that they have a shitload of distributors and are established. And they're close to Panda to keep an eye on them. So I've completely got happy thoughts about this.

I want this so bad I could die, but I simply can't justify the money after the string of calamities I've endured, plus Christmas for the kids and high-maintenance wife.

I reckon that by the time it actually ships in December 2014, I'll have been able to track down AHQ plus expansions for less than 150 bucks US.

I'm interested, but I'm going to wait to see what else shakes out. Finishing up during the holidays is going to strain budgets if I pull the trigger. Not to mention that I have an original copy sitting in my basement looking to be played.

What throws me off is the game is a kids game, the promo video even shows the original 80's cartoon with kids enjoying the game. But they've taken a serious and darker tone with the game and seem to ignore the crowd the game was originally made for, which seems like a flub.

One thing that holds me back right away is if I had both this copy and the original sitting on the shelf and my nephew or son wanting to play, I'll pull the original out every time because I think it gets the imagination going in the right way, this new one just looks a bit depressing and dark.

EDIT: Also, for those familiar with the expansions, do the items in the stretch goals like prisoners, rolling boulder, staircases...Do those appear in the expansion? Are we looking at new content? Or just items from the expansions being rolled out in other words?

The boulder is in Kellar's Keep

The prisoner is in one of the first few quests in the original game (I think).

I imagine the staircase is just the standard staircase that is in every level.

That's promising!
If it turns into more of a "Definitive Edition" with the older hard to find quest packs and that content, then that is a big tick into the Pro Column for me.

What you would really want, I think, would be the Barbarian and Elf Quest pack content, Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord are fairly easy to track down. The extra spells and artifacts would be awesome -- not to mention the minis.

If this turned into a "Complete HeroQuest" then that would be really cool. Much to early to see if that is the case.

I think you're pretty well versed in HQ so please let me know if it looks to be shaping into a Complete Package. With the 15 bonus heroes and something like 50 quests that's promising. But I guess the second side of the double-sided map is a woods/outdoor area, and I don't know if that's in the original and sounds like something new.

There's lots of new stuff, like the additionnal heroes, the unique monsters (bosses), the reversible board, and a bunch of new quests surely. The original game had 14 quests, and each quest pack added 10 more or so. I suspect the 50 promised quests to feature a bunch of never-before-seen ones.
