Ha! No dipping this time around. I think some of them might have gotten a black wash but I don't remember.

@GL: 4 shades of successively lighter blue brushed on in concentric rings.

Pete, when you're doing this, are you using 4 bottles of different blues, or just add whites?

Wow, the weathering on that mech is amazing.

Thanks :D It's actually a very basic weathering with sponge and stippling.

Two unique blues; the darkest went into a wet palette and blended. The whitest of them is a bottled color which I call Lightning Sword Blue. It's all Vallejo GC.

"Chewie, we're home from the Chinese Factory"

https://flic.kr/p/GTaJb3

Yes, here are the first paints I've done since...2005? They are a little under "Chinese Factory" quality for the most part. I started with Chewbacca because I thought he would be easy. He kind of wasn't. I went with a medium brown base, then washed (ha, more like slopped) a darker brown on it. Then highlighted with a lighter shade of brown. Which made him look like an elderly dog. So I drybrushed again with the darker brown. Bleh. He kind of looks like crap. But at least you can tell it's Chewbacca.

Han I did about 2am last night, I felt emboldened so I went for it. He's a mess. I really didn't have the right colors for him, but I made it work. At first he looked like he was wearing bright blue jeans, but I washed (slopped) some darker blue over it and it was OK. I avoided doing the leathers in black, I did a dark gray and then drybrushed black on it. His head was a disaster. I don't know how many coats of paint are on it. Messed up every single thing about it and I still couldn't get the darker shadows in the recesses.

I decided to go with the IA stuff first because most of it has little detail, familiar colors, and easily replaceable. I've got all of the canonical characters primed along with a bunch of Stormtroopers, Royal Guard and Probe Droids. Hoping to do them all over the weekend.

I bought Super Dungeon Explore for my son. I've been working through it hoping to get it to the table this summer. But it is going slowly! The most fun so far has been these baddies, because I can use my airbrush effectively.
