Well yeah, I mean, that's assumed.

I just saw Beauty and the Beast with my wife and 13-year-old daughter. We paid $5.00 apiece, and it was ok, but felt more like a $1.75 movie. A little sterile.

My favorite double feature of all time was Blade Runner + Road Warrior. It was right at the start of summer vacation between my second and third years of high school. I can't even remember how many times I went to that double feature.

But I'm really worried by the slow, brooding tone of this sequel's trailer. That was a bug in the first movie, not a feature, but it looks like the sequel's team decided to up the ante there. I'm still holding out hope for the actual movie, but the sequel deserves everything Red Letter Media gives it here:

I can't explain how excited I am for Alien: Covenant. More than Prometheus even since we know this is an actual Alien movie. I've watched a bunch of clips and facehuggers seem super scary and all the usual stuff. Acid-on-face, etc.

At the same time, i'm really trying to lower my expectations so we don't have another Prometheus on our hands. Here's what I'm doing and i suggest any fan does the same: Expect the movie to be worse than Prometheus. I think that's a good, realisticway to approach this. I'm trying to remember whatever my expectation was for Rogue One cuz whatever I did there was perfect. The movie surprised me non-stop and I had an amazing time in the theatres. i want that again.

I haven't even seen Prometheus so I plan on watching it for the first time with my son before we see Alien: Covenant.

Prometheus is a bad movie. Worse than any of the other Alien movies by a long shot. I haven't seen the AvP movies, though, so maybe those are worse than Prometheus.

Yes they are worse

But Prometheus is better than Ressurection tho, maybe even Alien3, I'd have to think about that

I'm going to have to rewatch Prometheus before seeing Covenant as well. I hope it doesn't sour the milk

No one should watch Prometheus the first time, let alone watch it again. Why do you hate yourself so much, Barney?

I saw Lost City of Z (Z pronounced "zed" English-style) today. Really, really good. It reminded me of Lawrence of Arabia (one of my favorite movies) in style, and Aguirre, Wrath of God (another classic) in substance. Sorry for all the parentheticals.

It's the true story of an Englishman in the early 20th century who went on several expeditions to explore the Amazon. He was convinced there was a forgotten civilization and hidden city, much like Machu Picchu. His trips into the jungle cost him dearly, yet fulfilled him in ways nothing else could. It left me with awe for both the jungle and the men who dared to explore it. Highly recommended. Also, a primary reason to catch it in the theater is for the sound design. They really take advantage of the full surround-sound experience. The jungle scenes absolutely envelope you.

I would love to talk some more about this one, so please, someone see it and tell me what you thought.

Yeah, Prometheus is just bad. Barney has no idea what he is talking about. I saw a Covenant review that said it was also bad.

I saw Risk, the doc about Assange, last night. It's oddly paced but incredibly interesting. Where Citizen four basically paints a pretty straightforward picture of Snowden (to my mind quite heroic, YMMV of course), Risk is much more nuanced. Assange is... you should really see the film. He's creepy as fuck. But it narrows the issue to his actions and organization much more effectively because he is not an appealing person.
