I thought that honor belonged to Pacific Rim.
So awesome its dumb, so dumb its awesome. Etc.

If you don't mind leaving movies unfinished, don't bother. The only reason I finished it was so I could complain about the movie - and the misguided train wreck that is Jared Leto's Joker - from a position of knowledge.

We watched Rogue One last night. I enjoyed it much more on the second time through. The second half is really intense. Great characters that you really can get into. Honestly, I think it was much better than Episode 7. I would like more Star Wars in this style.
I also watch Cloverfield. I really dislike the POV style. That should be reserved for porn. The monsters were cool though so I liked that.

My wife compares it to a war movie. If you view it through that lens it's pretty good.

I also rewatched Prometheus for some stupid reason cuz I'm going to have to watch it again with the g/f next week before seeing Covenant. I've decided that both Guy Richie and Charlize Theron are both awful in that. Thank goodness for Elba.
Rogue One is certainly a war movie and it's cool to hear talk about how it's better than Episode VII. I mean, Episode VII is clearly the better movie but I'd MUCH rather rewatch Rogue One. Maybe a flawed movie gives it a certain edge to it that makes it more fun to watch?

I had forgotten how much talent went to waste in Prometheus. Most directors could have made at least a moderately good movie just by featuring Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, and Noomi Rapace.
Yes, Episode VII is the better movie, at least in the sense that it is almost literally Star Wars: A New Hope. Personally, I don't need to ever see VII again, but I do want to watch Rogue One again at some point.

Yeah, I have zero desire to rewatch ep VII cuz Starkiller is just SO stupid and you're right, we've seen it all before. but I would love to see Rogue One again and I'm surprised I haven't. I'm so glad the director got the green light to do the ending he wanted. Amazing.
