Perfect way to do it, IMO. 9 part series on Showtime, set in the modern day with resonance and reference to the original series, similar to Fargo.

That was quite possibly the most unexpected news I've heard in a long time.

Most importantly, Lynch and Frost are back.

I tried watching a couple of episodes in season two. Nice cinematography, but the story seemed pointless or non-existent.

I'm so, so excited. This is my favorite show of all-time. I'm going to need to get cable.

@Shellhead: The second season isn't as strong as the first. Twin Peaks is very much a soap-opera. Single episodes don't tell much story on their own.

Season 1 and the movie, that's all that's needed.

Yeah, season 2 kind of floundered a bit, but I thought the movie was actually really great, and helped to make sense of some things. I really need to watch it all again, though, before this new series comes out. And yes, Lynch and Frost writing, and Lynch directing. Very cool.

It would be nothing without Lynch and Frosts involvement, but with them? I am very interested!

The only thing that could get me more excited than this, is Lynch doing the Mulholland Drive series after all.

Never watched it . IIRC it was one of the earlier series to have a long story arc across multiple episodes. Do people feel that it still holds up well today ?

Not to mention the fact that Lynch had more or less checked out. The suits also wanted more of a straightforward police procedural. With Lynch committed to direct all nine, I think we're in for a good ride.

When were you in Boise? Fool, next time say something.

As far as Lynch's Twin Peaks, I just have this to say: 25 years. Let it go.

I think one of the reasons I didn't watch it was because all the people who raved about were either irritating people themselves, and/or gravitated towards stuff that was weird or bizarre just for the sake of being weird/bizarre, not because it was actually good.

I think Twin Peaks still holds up well. I watched the entire series the first time maybe 8-10 years after it aired. It's funny, zany, creepy and engrossing. Everyone I've introduced it to has liked it.
