Obviously, there's Ghostbusters. I also recommend Eight Legged Freaks and Lost Skeleton of Cadavra.

What do you all recommend?

Can't go wrong with The 'Burbs. A 1989 Tom Hanks classic.

By far the best of all time is Return of the Living Dead. Not only is it subtlety funny, it's also a great Zombie flick in it's own right and it's Dan O'Bannon who was invovled in the original.

Peter Jackson's Dead Alive is awesome too. Most of the others suck. Especially the newer ones.

Honorable mention goes to Troll 2 which is unintentionally hillarious and actually somewhat unbelievable.

Student Bodies for a hilarious shred fest of every slasher flick of the 80's.

The first Scary Movie for a shred fest of every slasher flick of the 90's.

I second The 'Burbs and Dead Alive.

I'd also recommend:
Slither - Spiritual sequel to Night of the Creeps that outclasses it in every way.
Fido - Satire of 1950's suburbia where zombies have been domesticated via behavior-modification collars after humanity holes up in safe enclaves after surviving a NOTLD-style zombie outbreak.
Tremors - Creature feature with subterranean worm-like monsters that's in the same vein (but better than) Eight-Legged Freaks.
Black Sheep - Over-the-top movie about killer, mutated sheep. It's in the same neighborhood as Dead Alive.

I just watched this the other night. Such an amazing flick and the scenes with the zombie baby I think was part of his resume reel for Lord of the Rings. Fricking awesome flick - "I kick arse for the Lord!"

House.

There are several films with this name, as well as a well known tv series. The one you want was made in 1986 and directed by Steve Miner. Made me laugh like a drain, especially the sequence set to the tune "feeling better, now that we're through" as the protangonist packs the remains of a horrific, flirtatious she-monster packs into bin bags.

"You're pissin' me off, Roger!"

Oh and seconded for Shaun of the Dead. I assume you've seen it, but if not it's a must-view.

The Abominable Mr. Phibes w/ Vincent Price

Another one is Beetlejuice.

I love burning through old episodes of MST3K for Halloween. The very best? "Werewolf" and "The Final Sacrifice."

Well...Not movie and not really of value to anyone unless they're in the Kansas City area, but I just bought my tickets for Saturday's showing of Evil Dead The Musical. To be honest, I cannot wait!

Army of Darkness!! Duh....

It's a perfect fit.

"You said you'd save our village!"
"That was just pillow talk, baby..."

Army of Darkness/Evil Dead for sure

And Zombieland pwns Shaun by far. I was *so* let down by SotD. Maybe I should rewatch with friends as it may have just suffered from the whole "watching a comedy alone can kill the laughs" syndrome.

But still... "Double tap" and "Cardio" - great stuff.
