I'm Living the Dream!?!

Wednesday I'll be starting a new job. I'm going to work for a very successful local comic book store. We've got a lease to move to a new location that will have room to sell board games and Magic, as well as give us room for about 75 players.

I'me excited for the prospect of turning a hobby into a job, but I'm slightly apprehensive too. I hope that this won't destroy my love of games (I don't think it will) and I fear that I will eventually come to loathe some of the mouthbreathers that will inevitably become my best customers(almost guaranteed to happen).

So keep your fingers crossed for me.

I hope the store is a fantastic success. As to hating the customers, keep in mind that nice people out number assholes though it may not seem it on some days.

And as my brother tells me all the time when I get heated....It's not a contest....just take their fucking money.

Good for you for doing what so many of us wish we had the balls to do. I'd like to think I can hang up my suit and office in order to talk Magic and board games all day, but my mortgage scares me.

You're awesome. There is no way this will make you hate games. It might make you hate gamers but that's not an abnormal thing.

Thanks for the support everyone. Sorry for the lack of response til now. I had a hectic last couple days at my old job tying up loose ends.

The store is called Comic Book University. It is technically in Indianapolis, but for all intents and purposes it is in Greenwood, IN.

Please endeavor to make it open, clean, inviting and buzzing with activity. I think that always brings folks in and given boardgames have a lot of people at least mildly interested a good store can ride this wave.

I was in a new (to me) store recently buying MtG singles and while the space was good, I really wanted to tell all the employees to get some nice polos or matching shirts and then clean the fucking place up.

Jealous.

Keep us abreast of the store's sales and whatnot so we can order from you and help support the business.

Consider bringing Mega Miniatures stuff into stock before they close up shop, too - very inexpensive but awesome miniatures that every store should stock.

I've been pretty engrossed in the new job, but thought I'd pop in and say hey. 65 hour weeks have curtailed almost all of my online activity. Things are going well with my new gig. The gaming part of the job is slowly growing, but comics still take up more of my time.

I hope everyone at the Fort is doing well and will try to be more diligent to stop in more often.
