BGG: Guilt by association

You're not going to believe this shit...

A designer posted my review of their game on BGG, and it was immediately deleted, with the following message sent to the designer:

Superfly Pete should have known better than to ask you to post this article on BGG - he has already been told that doing so can result in the person posting on his behalf being indefinitely suspended from the site.

Read it again: YOU WILL BE PERMA-BANNED IF YOU POST A REVIEW OF MINE ON BGG.

Now, these imbeciles think that I WANT my product on that site, despite me nuking my account and demanding all my content be removed. As if I would ask someone to post my review up there for my benefit. Which is nothing and never has been anything. Unless incessant hen pecking and derision by BGG mods and members is somehow a benefit.

I know Cocktavian lurks here so here is a little public notice: I will NEVER. ASK. ANYONE. TO. POST. A. REVIEW. ON. MY. BEHALF. If someone wants to, on their own accord, I grant full permission (which is on my policy page) provided they include a link back and/or attribution.

What, you think I'd ASK SOMEONE to give my product to a insipid bunch of fascist, entitled, unappreciative assholes FOR FREE, so that you can make as money off my hits? EAT A STEAMING BAG OF DICKS.

This is abundantly clear that it is a personal issue. Grow the fuck up. Funny how the site is about board games, but if a designer wants to give people information about their game, oh, no, then it's about a vendetta.

Clowns. And they call me immature.

The Internet is serious business.

And sadly, I completely believe that shit.

I just feel bad for the guy. He just wants to promote his game, and do what EVERY OTHER DESIGNER DOES

Worse, the publisher advertises with them.

I guess BGG= Bureau of the Game Gestapo.

Got a link? Or did they take it down? I'd like to give it a thumbs up!

Perma-banning a designer is a significant escalation of potential consequences in both directions. Perm-banning a publisher is something I can't imagine BGG would be so bold to do. Were I publishing the game I likely would send a polite email to BGG's admins, indicating the nature of their misunderstanding and hoping that it doesn't happen again.

Its BG Fucking G. Anything is possible.

So was he the mod in question. He's not the only one who lurks here IIRC.

I'll use the site, but I'll be damned if I ever give them any money.

Didn't that happen with Winsome Games? Of course, he's pretty small potatoes. I don't think they'll be banning say FFG.

But yeah, I'd agree.

Pete, do you have a link?

I'd also be curious to see where in their policy its against site rules to post exterior links to certain things.

The link to the article was left in the links section, but the article was removed.

This is definitely Octavian as he is the only person of authority there who I have had anything but kind interactions with, and the only one who seems to have a hard on for me.

It boggles the mind.

They banned that guy that was suing Valley Games and INVITED Radiant Games to make a statement on their news feed in which Radiant ensured everyone that they couldn't be associated with Valley Games. BGG's interests are pretty clear, if you're giving them money they have your back.

Apparently, unless you are a designer who works with an advertising publisher, because then, if you associate with rabble like me, your money doesn't buy you Jack, nor shit.

And then this comes out today. The irony!!

Note that Nate, Matt, Michael, and even MartinQWERTY are left off. Just goes to show how insular and "good old boys" it is there.
